I can't seem to write this comment without it becoming a wall of text so: TLDR; 1) Most of the time lack of boost is not the root cause of why someone missed the save and 2) Often when a person can't knows they can't make a save they just sit on the goal line and don't move, which gives your teammates nothing to read to know if you are going to make the save or not. Often a teammate could have saved the ball if they knew their teammate wasn't going to. 1) There are definitely situations where it doesn't bother me but in my experience (anecdotal evidence I know) a lot of people use it as a way to shift the blame a little bit from their own poor positioning/boost management to their lack of boost. "I could have made that save but I didn't have boost." No, you couldn't make that save because you were positioned on near post and didn't have the boost to correct that mistake. Or you just burned all your boost on an air dribble play that just handed possession to the other team, and you couldn't recover in time to make the save. Etc. Most goals are conceded because of poor decision making and poor positioning. Doing things like taking better lines to the ball, not wasting boost on lost plays, having good recoveries, and rotating properly will put a person in the position to make the save with or without boost (most of the time. I get it, some shots are just nutty. Never any hard feelings when someone just clips on you). 2) In most situations I see where someone says "Need Boost!", that person just sat on the goal line not moving while the ball sailed in because they knew they couldn't get to it. Recognizing that you can't get to a ball is an incredibly important skill to have in RL, but even if Teammate A can't get to the ball because they need boost, a lot of the time Teammate B could have made the save if they knew that Teammate A wasn't able to. Teammate B doesn't try to make the save because #1 is just sitting there, not challenging, not doing anything with their car that Teammate B can use to try to make the read if they need to make the save or if Teammate A can make the save. Once teammate #1 recognizes that he is beat (again, everyone should practice this skill) there is exactly one thing that would be the worst thing for Teammate A to do, and that is to hold still. Literally anything else is better, because your body language (car language??) gives your teammates something to go off of. Teammate A could just immediately challenge the ball, he could just immediately rotate away from the ball (making it obvious he isn't going for it), or anything similar that communicates to Teammate B that B has to make the save. That last point applies to everything in team modes in RL btw. You always want to make it as obvious as you can to your teammate what you plan on doing. I could go on at length about this specific topic even longer if someone wanted to (I'm only C2, but love teaching/coaching and recently coached an IRL friend up to high C1/low C2 in 3s from Plat 3 in about 2.5 months just from focusing on positioning and rotations). Anyway, /walloftext, whole topic is a pet peeve of mine.

@@kkdds3 I think that you need to realize most people know it is their fault if they don't have boost. That is why always say "Sorry!" or "My bad..." after I say need boost. In some circumstances, more specifically in lower ranks, it can be your teammate's fault if you miss a save because you do not have boost. In some situations, my teammates will leave me in goal to go for a demo or boost, and it will result in me having to make 2-4 back-to-back saves with limited boost (I'm a C2 too and this still happens.) Obviously, your teammate can also steal your boost, but I don't think that happens as much as people say. On a completely unrelated note, do you ever realize how the person closest to goal is always blamed for the goal? Some players will fullt commit to a risky pass or dumb challenge then blame it all on their teammate when the other team gets a breakaway. I understand if I make a bad pass sometimes, but that doesn't mean you have to go for a shot if you know the other team will get a free goal for it.
