Just watched the behind the scenes for this, and Taron sinking and singing at the bottom of the pool WASNT cgi. He was weighted under his robe and had a SCUBA diver on standby to give him oxygen when need be. Y’all I’m losing my MIND. This is one of the coolest movies Ive seen in a long time.

I love how even though this song was written for actual astronauts by Bernie, it fits perfectly well with the climax of the movie & Elton’s story. Metaphorically at this point in the movie and his life, Elton actually “missed the earth” cause he couldn’t relate to anyone and it was “lonely out in space” which is basically the stage - and Elton being the standalone focus there. “I think It’s gonna be a long long time” - him being alone for a long time, just as his mother mentions it to him earlier in the movie. “Not that man I think I am at home” Elton would always leave his ‘actual self’ - Reginald Dwight at home, and get him to the stage; where he would wear extravagant costumes to be Elton John, in fact Bernie also tells him to be his ‘actual self’, the only actual friend Elton had - & he was right all along. Also, Rocketman can stand for his fame and incessant hit singles at the time which meant that he was at the epitome of his career too. Y’all agree?

You can't really compare these two movies , BoRap was a Biopic on Freedy Mercury and Queen but this ... This is something else , the way they incorporated the songs of his into a freakin musical plus all those transition is fuckin great ! BoRap was a great movie on a genre which is already cemented by great movies before but Rocketman tried to do something really different and it fuckin succeed ! You can't really compare these two ! Only reason some people hate this movie is because the wanted a proper biopic on EJ like BoRap but i don't think EJ would like that when he's got this !

This is what acting is all about. It is not the lines, it's the performance that all actors and actresses not only to entertain, they put all their heart and soul for the role they did. Taron put a performance that was inspiring, sad, and amazing. He was Elton John. Last year had amazing performances like: Adam Sandler in Uncut Gems, and Robert Di Nio in The Irishman. This scene is so powerful and I have to say that was the best scene in the entire film. Reason because it's when Elton's life began to go out of control, and believed that there was nothing left for him, so he decided to get drugged out and kill himself by drowning in the pool, but that was when his younger self who was like his guardian angel and he told Elton that it's not time to die and do what you were born to be. And people saved Elton like it was angels bringing him back. Then the ambulance gets his stomach pumped up and takes him to Dodger stadium and backstage people dress him up while he feels dead and wasted and goes out smiling and performs. That's heartbreaking to watch for people including Elton. Taron make that scene heartbreaking and amazing. Rocketman was amazing and Taron deserved that oscar nomination and the movie should have been nominated for more categories. Other then that, Taron Edgerton was Elton John, and Rocketman was awesome. We ❤💯 you Elton.

This movie was a visual masterpiece of a man who had to balance being a stage persona while having some serious internal struggles. I can only relate to the second part. I'm not a huge fan of musicals but something about this morning struck the right cords in me. I want whoever is reading this to know, that you are loved and your life is worth it.

I'm a Queen fan all the way, but I have to admit, because of scenes like this, Rocketman was a way better movie than Bohemian Rhapsody. They were both biopocs, but where BR was a straight biopic, Rocketman told it like a musical, using Elton's songs to convey the mood of each scene. Rocketman was so much better in many ways and yet, received little to no Oscar attention. I just don't understand. Anyway, love Elton, Taron, Bernie and Rocketman so much, they did an amazing job ❤

I think it's kinda cool how they depicted his performances like he's not even present. All of it is just fantastical blur and the only real moments where he actually knew what was happening were in the plane and in the pool. The movie seamlessly transitions between both worlds and the plane specifically felt like a whimsical shot until it cuts to him actually being in the plane smoking weed and you realize that plane was real.

late to the party but just saw this and good god this scene blew me away. Heartbreaking but it gets to the core themes of the movie (emotionally with Elton's self-hatred and self-destruction, and more literally with the drugs and songs both being featured) while also showing us this emotional and hurt side he isn't letting himself show and even acknowledging himself, and his beginning of a fight for his life (even if it's mostly passive except when he rips of the oxygen mask but I assume that's more to let him struggle to express himself musically than to show him trying to die), the way drugs and his unhealthy relationships (producer and his parents) have taken him away from being someone good who recognizes himself and values himself, how drugs did the same, and the way music is so important especially as an outlet for him. Then the end where he's deeply fake, seeming to feel he owes it to the public to be ok and not accept any help he needs except in private and in the most dire of circumstances where his life is entirely on the line. It's just beautiful visually and so complex beyond that (and tragic af) and I adore it. Easy to see how this song comes from the man to write Solidarity, the best ensemble number to ever bless Broadway.

Rocketman and Taron deserved an Oscar, the movie is not only incredible but it catches you from start to finish with music that reaches the soul, I am not a fan of Elton John but the movie is very well done each song was at the precise moment of the movie, only the performance of Taron who was supervised by Elton himself, big difference from the shit of Bohemian Rhpasody that being a fan I was disappointed to see a movie that was only advertising and marketing and a mediocre performance by Remi who never managed to capture the charisma by Freddie, Rocketman is definitely the best movie based on the life of a singer, I've seen it a thousand times and I never get tired.
