I met Scott Weiland in early 2001 when I worked at Starbucks 3rd & Fairfax. When I handed his drink, I told him. That Tiny Music is my favorite album and that the album is so rock ‘n roll, an instant classic. Weiland’s face lit up with a big smile and he said “ Yeah man thanks!, We worked so hard to get those tones, it’s my favorite album of our too..”after that I mentioned that I heard that STP is recording a new album. Weiland got shocked and asked how do you know. And I told him I heard the rock report on 95.5 KLOS mentioning that they were back in the studio. He said “oh. Yes we are” and that was it. Really nice guy!

Wow, thank you for this great story. Weiland was one of my vocal idols (with Chris Cornell). I've read elsewhere that TINY MUSIC was his favorite. I also read that he was really proud of SHANGRI LA-DEE-DA, which is a really strong record too...and that he was really disappointed that it didn't do better. He may have had his problems...but I've heard that he was a really nice man.

No bout a doubt it my friend. Having gone to a lot of concerts myself throughout the years by many different music artists & genres. I can attest Scott was undoubtedly one of the best front men I've ever seen in the business. At least the majority of his career until his downfall & I seen him for the very last time w/The Wildabouts anyway. But, when Scott was on, he was on. You'd be hard pressed to find another rockstar who commanded the stage & crowd while jammin'. Weiland's on my top-5 singer, front men/women list ever in music. IDGAS what anybody says, it is what it is, period. Let's just keep it a buck here cool? 🤔 +Peace Rock n' Roll 4 Your Soul My Friends+ 🤘😜🤘

I can relate to this poor woman when finding out your significant other dies tragically. Thankfully she wasn’t the one who found him which is something nobody should go through… In 2008 I found my wife’s deceased body hanging in the basement and it absolutely ruined me and I’ve never been able to recover! Just weeks earlier I lost my mom to cancer and both my grandparents. Can anyone say “WORST YEAR EVER” Soon after I started using intravenous drugs, I was actively trying to self delete until 2015 when my dad got a fatal diagnosis of lung cancer. I decided to clean up my act and take care of him and I’ve been clean ever since, but I lost everything. Point being I feel this woman’s pain… RIP Scott Weiland

Are they underrated or one of the top rock bands of all time? You have to pick one. Lmfao I remember STP being absolutely MASSIVE in the 90s and 2000s. Literally everyone I knew was listening to them for years (and many of us still do). They were pretty f-ing far from being "underrated". ...and Scott is widely considered to be one of the greatest rock frontmen of all time. STP would have been underrated if they remained a small indie band and just sold CDs out of their van after club shows. That's what "underrated" is. They became one of the biggest rock bands ever though. ..and Scott was in _another_ huge band just after that. Idk why everyone is so obsessed with using that word incorrectly. It's SO stupid. It's like using the word "hot" to describe the inside of a freezer. Lol

Totally in agreement. Scott needs to be mentioned MUCH MUCH more often. He is one of the greatest vocalists, artists, songwriters in rock, like Chris, like Chester.. sadly he died in a really heartbreaking 6 month span when we lost Lemmy, David Bowie, Prince.. & others. I think because of his legal issues, addiction & mental illness struggles people just gloss over him & don't give him the credit he deserves. I'm not saying he should be treated as some saint... but I struggle with my own demons so I refuse to judge.. but he is iconic & a rock legend. I miss him alot. He & Jani Lane aren't beloved enough.

Smelled like chemical? Crack? Nobody close to 50 should do cocaine, if you do it after 50, your heart explodes. I knew of 3 people, did cocaine after 50, died on the spot, no lie. So when they say he had drugs in his system, but not heroin, it's cocaine and crack, I guess.

@@ricktheexplorer They would make sense if those people over 50 were also seriously out of shape, deficient in most vitamins and minerals(most people are). Collagen, vitamin C, are very useful for vascular health. Also Sulphur. e k2 zinc magnesium. Are the main usual deficiencies. It’s shocking how much people’s skin can improve later in life if they are able to absorb those nutrients but people usually have digestion problems as well. Especially at that age. They simply don’t absorb nutrients. Complex micro biome issues. Also mucoid plaque in the intestines. It can get messy. So yeah, I can see that. 50 for most people. Cocaine is a big no no. Should be. I bet most people over 50 are not physically fit. The body can heal but people get degraded mostly do to poor sleep, dietary issues, eating too much garbage, PTSD, anxiety, toxic relationships, stress, basically weilands life. Stress kills allot of people but it’s as complex as how people respond to their financial and relationships issues. One trick I found is You have to want freedom More than you want approval, control, security, survival. Let go of the want of it. That should knock most people’s stress way down. @@Noumenon4Idolatry They said he had drugs in his system, but not heroin. The roadie said they were smoking something in the back of the tour bus that smelled like chemicals. That's probably crack cocaine, very powerful and deadly. It's just my guess though.

Scott is one of my favorite frontmen of all time. Stp doesn’t have a bad album. As much as I love him, he definitely died of poly-substance abuse. You can’t mix 12 different drugs together every night and expect to live. He died of mixed drug intoxication. I’m an addict too and there’s no reason sugar coat it. He was super messed up in the weeks leading up to it. He’d even been mixing cocaine, ecstacy and molly with his Suboxone and prescribed benzos. It’s just sad man. Rip.

I was supposed to see him touring with his solo album in the late 90s. Unfortunately he was arrested the night before in NY City. I did get a chance to see him with StP in the mid 90’s. They were great. He was an underrated frontman, and his voice in his prime was amazing. What an era of music. Sad all these bands ended in sorrow.

It was never a case of if, but when. STP was huge in the early 90s. You couldnt turn on a radio without hearing them. That summer I was living with my future wife and STP and the Seattle movement was the soundtrack to our lives.

Being a major fan for many years I finally had passes to meet him backstage in Medina MN. To wake up and feel excited for that day just to read he died on his bus, I'm still affected by it. Whenever I drive past the spot he died I get an unexplainable feeling but comforting like he's doing great and doesnt want anyone to feel sad

Poor guy he was in such a dark place in his life when he died his body went through so much physically and emotionally that he spent his last moments feeling alone. He was one of the most talented musicians out there, and I remember when I first heard about his . was crushed. His music has gotten me through the most difficult times in my life and till this day it still saddens me that he's gone. I can relate so much . I feel like if would have taken a break and much needed healing he would still be alive today.

Very sad and very tragic. Little more I can say about it. The period his work was done in and the age I was when I became a big fan made his and Layne’s deaths truly devastating for me. Miss them both and their deeply soul bearing (bare-ing?) work. RIP, guys.

I’ve always respected Scott as an amazing singer songwriter. He was a gem in my book. There was a time you couldn’t turn the radio on without hearing an STP song. The literally wrote the sound track to the 90s and early 2000’s. RIP Scott Weiland .

Absolutely deserves respect when it comes to his career. He was a freakin unicorn. Different eras or different bands, he always brought something new & exciting to the table. His stage presence alone was worth the ticket of admission because you had no real idea on what he would do. Definitely, by default, one of my personal favorite rock singers. Thanks for clearing up his name here a good bit. I hope hes at peace wherever he is. He's missed

Scott is my cousin from my grandmother's side of the family. The night before the morning he passed away I had just gotten off work don't know why but I sat down on the couch listening to a couple of his albums before going to sleep only to wake up and hear my cousin had passed away. Goes to show you there is an energy connection between us all, especially with family.

I recorded a 8 song record back in 1987 I was the bassist on wasted Youth: "get out of my yard." Joey Castillo was the drummer and years latter their drummer was one of the people who checked Scott's pulse tried to wake him, so the story goes he was already dead. But I think he was air lifted or paramedics called DOA. Sad, one of the most talented singers I'd ever seen/heard.
