I actually do these almost exactly the same way you do, before class starts when I first get to the gym. I sometimes get funny looks from people trying to talk to me, but I can talk and warmup at the same time! Glad to know I'm not the only one that likes these.

is Tang Soo do better and more effective than Taekwondo

That depends. Better for what? Present day TKD is more sport oriented. Tang Soo Do pre-dates TKD and has remained a traditional martial art for the most part. Traditional in the way that you are fighting for your life, not points. There are rules in sports, not in the street.
