We headed down to one of the agate producing rivers in the hills of inland Canterbury and we weren't disappointed at all! There was a good variety of agates, chalcedony, carnelian, jasper, and quartz to be found. If only a bit of sun had decided to poke through!

Yo! So cool to see New Zealand rocks. I'm a Kiwi living on Gold Coast now and I love seeing my homeland. I enjoyed the walk along the river. Really cool to see your finds. Popping over to your fossil channel too. I love science and history. That's a huge crab. It looks really cool. 🦖

The paired seam agate geodes were so neat! It's wonderful to think about what their tumble from origin to discovery location must have been like. I'm very much looking forward to seeing what's going on inside some of those, when you have the time and inclination to cut them. Something about your area creates agates with the very best internal landscapes.

Just watched a few of your videos today for the first time and like the content. As such count me in as a new subscriber (from Canada). Visiting your homeland someday is definitely on my bucket list; and I would probably need the bucket (for agate) when I get there, 😊 👍🍁

WOW!!! some spectacular finds there, what a great hunt!!! Those mystery rocks got me intrigued too. Just at a glance they could be some kind of limb cast species of petrified wood or maybe they could be a type of jaspagate (jasper and agate combo). That might give you somewhere to go from for further research.

WOW , man nice trip ,...Im stuck here in western kentucky 8100 miles away with all this missisippian crud , but im sure youd like to trade for a day or two, my friend you must have noticed many of the see thu ,opalescent , or chalcedony you find look VERY VERY reminiscent of the fossils you find on the beach just with no matrix left its fairly common to find quartz fossil shells and crinoid stems here, well not rare anyway, and I believe you leave huge chunks of it on your favorite fossil beaches,...the only way to tell is if theyre see thru,...I know hard to tell in the day ,...it helps to have a small powerful mag flashlight to hold up to them,...all them big ole red yella orange and white sparklers you leave behind...good hunting Mike in kentucky

Hi from Whangarei, Northland 😁 I am very new to rock hounding and fossil hunting and recently discovered your channels, so am greatfully gleaning any information I can from you about rock and fossil identification. I noticed on the small piece of chalcedony you found still attached to the host rock, that the host rock also had the green spotty mineral throughout that you saw in the agates you found. May help with identifying the mineral 😁 Any suggestions of books or research I can do relating to New Zealand rocks and fossils (or secret Northland spots) I can keep a secret til the grave 👍 would be greatfully received. Thank you and keep up the great content 😁🙏
