Just found your channel & had to tell you how much I enjoy your video style. Just the right combination of comments on the finds and showing the wonderful scenery! Can you send me a location for this River
@timothyboone5003
@timothyboone5003 2 жыл бұрын
For every one person asking there’s probably a 100 more thinking the same thing. If this man gave a specific location, he would effectively be losing a place to go rock hunting. Every area has features (rocks) unique to that area. Everyone should get out and find what their area has to offer. From a geologic perspective the type and age of this mans finds, along with the topography shown in this video. It’s possible to narrow down location to a 4 to 5 county area. If happen to rock hunting that area you could expect to find an abundance of Lithostrotionella corals.
@TennesseeRocks

Very well said. Get out and search your local area. There are rocks to be found. Get on google maps and research your waterways. Ask locals in your area that have been around for a while. They might could give you tips or clues on where to find artifacts in your area. Anything helps, so Happy Hunting. We appreciate you again for watching the channel.

Thanks for the coral name. Also showing me to listen to my instincts. I KNEW it was corals and fossils and petrified wood I have found . I took Marine Biology and grew up in Big Sur Coastal Valley California. I AM so excited to make some pieces with similar finds. What's the bronzed red and black rocks it looks shimmering? I think it's perfect for polishing. I have found shells as well luke small conch with the outline still very clearly a shell.

Those are defiantly agate! Many of the geodes in that area (Highland Rim) contain banded chalcedony and a fraction of those will be transparent when sliced and that is what defines an agate. Those defiantly appear that they would be transparent and are some of the coolest I've seen! The orange on the outside is basically sunburn, but once you cut past that they are usually white and blue. There is very little documentation on them but, they are completely different from paint rock as paint rock comes from east of the Highland Rim.

I found a lot of fossils along my creek bank when I was a kid. There were geodes too, but I was a kid in the 1960's. We didn't have the information we do now, and I only started rock hunting because of finding a crinoid stem on the creek bank. I didn't have guides or knowledge to tell me what to look for. I found things that were obviously something different than a regular creek rock. I recognize unbroken geodes from pics and videos I watch today. But back then, I didn't know what I was looking at. I wish I had known.

Hey thanks for watching. The rock that was a digging tool was definitely man made. It was napped all over the rock. The native people would strike the rock with a hammer stone knocking flakes of the flint rock. It does take a little time to learn what to look for. Also notice how the top of the rock has been thinned to allow it to be fitted to a wood shaft. We hope to have a rock saw video soon. Thanks again
