Os portugueses tiveram as melhores armas e navios por centenas de anos, sempre a frente dos outros, a única desvantagem era o tamanho de portugal. Foram incriveis, detalhistas, precisos e com navios que aproveitavam o vento até contrários.

@Alvaro Higino na época que oBrasil não era formado ou mesmo depois, mais de um século, temos na história portuguesa documentos, navios, armas de mão, canhões, munição, canos...enfim tudo que a época era tecnologia, muito a frente da espanha e inglaterra, embora o país fosse pequeno, um navio se saia bem contra varios, a abordagem portuguesa era fazer comércio, só tomavam quando era necessário. Quando pegavam um navio português, que era díficil de acontecer, normalmente afundava e descobriam tudo que ele tinha os portugueses já estavam melhorando, sempre contrataram os melhores armeiros do mundo para criar novidades, tem documentos que a arma disparava até 8 projéteis de uma vez, atingia muita gente, imagine um exercito revesando, seus canhões alcançavam longas distancias, apontavam para baixo, o que afundava navios rapidamente, os navios alem de rapidos e leves, o formato da vela permitia ser empurrado sempre. Era muito mais tecnológico que todos juntos.

@Alvaro Higino quando digo imperio portugal é pelo Brasil ter imperio separado, o filho do rei ficou aqui, foram separados então na nossa história temos imperio português e império brasileiro. Keep in mind that was the portuguese that bring the black powder to Europe or that we were the strongest navy in the world for a coutry less than a million at the time..... Breech loading cannons was us that invented the new cannons, the word that the world use today as COMANDOS is a Portuguese word for a military action taken by us during the conquers
