Two more John Conlee songs I think you would love to react on. IN MY EYES and A LOT OF THINGS DIFFERENT.

This has always been one of my favorite John Conlee songs. "Old School" and "I Don't Remember Loving you" are two other great songs. I'll agree with others that always took it to be a late wife.

Another of John's songs worth checking out ... I Don't Remember Loving You. You might like Cal Smith's song ... The Lord Knows I'm Drinking.

Hello Don, I always though Miss Emily had passed away because he showed her so much reverance, way more than you tend to do after a nasty breakup. Thanks to TXplowgirl it definitely seems like that was the case, although, the song is written in such away that It is certainly open to interpretation. One thing I will say is there is still a lot of country legends that you have yet to do a reaction to, Webb Pierce, Kitty Wells, Hank Snow, Red Foley, Eddy Arnold, Rose Maddox, just to name a few. I'm looking forward to your reactions to some of them. Hope everyone has a pleasant day.----#UTRCM

Please do a reaction to "Lady Lay Down" by John Conlee. Hist first #1 from 1979. One of the best songs ever recorded by a country singer in the 70's

Don, I think you need to review Vince Gill's song " When I call your name". It is from the late 80's and shows off his crisp, soothing voice. Thanks

John Conlee has said in an interview when asked about Miss Emily had died. The song is meant to allow people to gather their own opinions. Some people think she left him and some think she died. It's up to your own imagination.

"Miss" Emily is a title of respect. It's a southern thing! 🤗 if you ever watch duck dynasty, Mr. Phil always refers to his wife as Miss Kay. It's actually quite common . I always assumed she passes away ( in the storyline of the song). And that "scattering yesterday's love into the wind" was maybe a reference to the scattering of ashes after a cremation. Just my opinion. This is one of those songs that can mean different things, depending on who is listening and what they're going thru at the time.

Hi Don, good call on the reaction and rating. Sometimes simple is good when you have a delivery like John's. He has an unusual voice, but something about it draws me in. Thanks for a new song.

I love this guy's music. Old School will always be my favorite. But I think you've done that one. How about Common Man or The Carpenter's Song?

I always thought she died. The descriptions in the lyrics sound much more like grief than a simple broken heart. Hogn Conlee had a more upbeat git called 'The Carpenter,' and another popular song called 'Mama's Rocking Chair' that you might take a listen to.

I love this song, although it's simple it delivers the message with emotion and depth. I was thinking she'd passed away and it looks from the comments below that's what happened. Also I want to second Mike Mike's list of country legends --- they're all great!

Hi Terry just wanted to say while musically it is beautiful in its simplicity. However lyrically is it simple when right here in the comments we have people on both sides ( dead or not dead )? Perhaps it is just vague enough that it is not quite as simple as it sounds at first!

I could never determine exactly what happened to Miss Emily either. However, now that we are living in the South (NC), I see that it is used a lot in addressing women, married, single, old, whatever. It sounds more polite to me.

I always thought it was a breakup song, but the line that says he shows her picture to all his buddies make me think he does that because she’s no longer here.

Some songs are better left open to different meanings. That’s why Elton John left out the third verse to Danial when he got the words from Bernie Taupin. Thanks for doing this video.

I always assumed she left him. I was probably wrong but I never used to think of death right away. It wasn't one of my favorite John Conley songs but it was okay.
