A video made by Burton's Attic was a great help in this mill restoration and here is a link to his build if you want to check it out. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/e6p7aKRo2auwiqM.html Thanks John!

That's wild man. A custom metal handle like that. I was a little mesmerized by the metal turning

I love the use of the adjustable wrench for tapping. I have also used 12-point sockets (can grab a square end tap) and find them more convenient when tapping softer materials. The beauty of an adjustable is that the tap centers itself if the hole is proper. Beautiful job on the quill handle! I would have personally made the end of the handle a bit lighter lol. I need to make one of these for my lab Rockwell Mill.

A couple of things -- when holding round stock in a mill vise - it's not a bad idea to use at least one V-Block, it's more secure because there are three points of contact, not two. Also, if you're indicating any part with parallel sides (like round bar - it's parallel across the diameter)held in a chuck, you can indicate off the vise jaws. Also, is there a coil spring that holds the handle up? You could add a couple of turns to compensate for the heavier handle.

Thank you for the tips Alan. Since this video I have beefed up my tooling and got my hands on some V blocks! There aren't any coil springs for this mill from the factory, but I think I could adapt a spring on the depth adjustment to give it a spring. Thanks for watching!
