The Rocky Mountain Instinct Powerplay is a quality full suspension electric mountain bike with a lot of high end components, 140mm travel, large 29” near plus sized grippy tires, dropper seat post, all while remaining competitively priced. Dyname 3.0 drivetrain is powerful but compact, features hidden battery integration in the down tube, and a minimalist control system that adds to the purist feel. Legendary SRAM GX Eagle derailleur with with a massive 10-50 tooth range, precise SRAM Guide R hydraulic disc brakes with quad-piston calipers and large 200mm rotor in front and in the rear. Heavy compared to it’s siblings, display is pretty much non-existent, battery takes a while to remove and put back in, because of this you will be charging on the bike only.

I bought this very bike last month, I’ve put approximately 1000KMs already and absolutely love it. I’ve tackled pretty much every hill trail /single track climb and now can actually say I love to climb. My biking friends can’t get over how much I can keep up and even push them on climbs.....They’re average age is mid 30’s......I’m 55.....So no more waiting. Battery easily last 6 to 8 hours depending on how you use it. I never use Ludicrous mode, no need to, only down side are the tires....Need a better set and that’s easily achieved...not bad for dry weather but tend to gum up in mud......love it....Torque sensor is so responsive....What a ride.........thanks Rocky Mountain....I’m a Norco convert.

Hey, cold you do a review of the Scott eride axis 10 ? There isn't any reviews of those models except for the evo mais it's a 4.5k+ bike ! I love the design of the 10 but it's very hard to find any videos covering it, many thanks in advance !!

Have mine for over a year now. Motor would cut out intermittently and randomly for a second or 2 which makes for frustrating riding when the power cuts off on a steep climb. Since new motor was put in, it now 'pulses' intermittently and randomly for a few seconds on just about every ride. Even though I love the bike and the ride it gives, the 'power' issues let it down. Am I the only one with this issue? Any thoughts? I'm a cruisy trail rider so I don't thrash the bike....

I HAVE baddly undersold the smaller than Schwinn Tailwind 40 amp kilowatt charge port amp hour current scib cell. Please allow me to paste the higher decade later and also over tenth of kwh demanding ebike marketplace specs NOW: Nominal capacity2.9AhOutput Power420W* (SOC:50%, 10s, 25°C)Input Power480W* (SOC:50%, 10s, 25°C)DimensionsW63 × D14 × H97 mmWeightApprox. 150g So ten centimeters is doable in frame or even in frame triangle bag. As is a ten second braking. TEN THOUSAND WATTS of charge acceptance is way BELOW capacity for twenty of these and three kilograms worth!!! But in a sixth of a minute ...one and a third each if piece of eight . . Wow . . .8 of 2.9 is poetics riffing 2.4 So sixthed obviously .4 Doubled up back to 2.4 only watthours... So 48 watt hours EASALLY regen 96 VOLTS would be a fifth conservatively of a kwh kickstart or dimestop capacity. I IMPLORE THE WORLD TO SOLDER THENMMM IN OR WEAVE BAMBOO OR CARBON FIBERS PERMANENTLY AROUND A DOUBLE WIDE HUNDRED VOLT FRAME TO END CARS UNDER OUR BUT DUH.

The math errors will be corrected. 840 watts tbough per what wildly guessing ten ounces??? (.3kg) THESE belong in WHEELS. I forget what effect inertial spinning has on LTO.. They can float inside space between spokes or if jotling helps prevent .... Omg i left out cycle count.... When charged fast and zero to full.... 40,000 times... U still have two and a half amphours !!!! So yeah bikes can charge themselves when stopped by pedaling not just whwn recovering inertial energy pedalled previously in exclusively. KoreA makes lto ALSO but airless high pressure 700 "street" bike tires with lower energy loss per trip than flat prone crap almost everyone else still uses. Specialised CEO is criminally due for 8 year stint in Alcatraz given these facts since say 2015.

$5300 dollars for an unknown motor brand? And sketchy drive gearing - no other company does that perhaps for good reason. You can'r really call it stealthy without a dsiplay because the frame is so bulbous with that motor design. Battery can't be removed to charge at work, or wherever so that scratches any commuter plan. Proprietary battery/motor forcing you to trust them to stay in business. Lots of negatives - too risky for that kind of coin.

Rocky Mountain has been around since 1978, I do not think longitivity will be a problem. I do wish the battery could be removed.

How far are you commuting that you'd need to charge it daily, after 1 direction? I see a couple of these Rockies get the shit beat out of them daily, while never leaving turbo mode, and they just eat it up. They also feel way better and more 'accurate' to input compared to the trek or specialized ebikes I've rode. Like Lee said, they've been around for a pretty long time, and they dont' rely on this bike to stay in business, at all. They'll be around a long time.

Hi there....I’ve bought this bike a month ago....Have about 1000 KMs on it and absolutely love it.....I bike in the Hinton/Jasper area and have had zero issues. Motor is phenomenal.....Quiet and power is insinuations vice the Bosch or Shimano motors. Torque sensing vice Cadence is so much more direct....Battery is not removable but have pushed it to 90 KM’s in one day to see what I could get.....I pre set my Eco drive to 25% mild to 50% and ludicrous is 100%......90% of the time it’s in Eco and 9% in Mid.....Rarely use Ludicrous but it sure is handy....Anyways, let me know if you have any questions.
