Hey im curious could i use xcr cylinders on a storm bottom. Would the studs not line up? How much porting would be needed if any?

Really appreciate this intel! I’m rebuilding an Ultra SPX right now, and I just noticed that on the pto side, the rotating portion that sandwiches the rod has some coarse rust on it. Sorry I’m not sure of the technical term for that part. I just put the case together and noticed. Ok to run that way, or do I need to clean that off?

I would remove all of the rust before install....

You are wrong about the first Polaris crank. It is not from a 650. 650s had oil injection and there is no drive gear on that crank for oil injection. That crank most likely is from the 500 triple. Even 600 triples 1984 through 1987 had oil injection. The first year 600 triple 1983 did not have oil injection.

I wish I knew the story on that Ultra crankshaft that has the broken bolt sticking out of it. From the looks of it they probably ruined the primary clutch trying to get it off. Almost looks like they tried using heat.

Yeah...dang customers who don't have the tools to remove the clutch properly.

I’m restoring an 85 Indy 600. I may need the crank rebuilt when I get into it so I’ll reach out when the time comes. My question is this. Can I use a 97 ultra clutch on the 85 Indy 600 taper?

Hi! Great video on the different cranks. Im rebuilding my crankshaft (XCR 800), but have a hard time finding a new MAG side wide bearing. It seems to be ot of production.. Can you give me a hint on where to get one? Thanks!

Why does the Ultra have those seals, but the XCRs don't?

Its for the style of water pump that was used.

Only the 680 96 had the oil bath water pump after 96 they eliminated the seals, you can simply cut them out ,you don't have to have the crankshaft taken apart! You don't need to modify the 96 pump it will no longer need to have the oil added any longer.
