The fact that the host stated 2 Timothy 3:16 and compared it to Sola Scriptura is a gross misunderstanding of the Bible as a whole. Because of his inability as most Catholics do, the Bible also states beware against the Traditions of Men in MANY places. How shocking is it that the Catholic Church forgets those verses and does not think about those when quoting this verse as the host did. It ONLY makes sense to use Sola Scriptura because it is God's Word and we are called to use God's entire Word (2 Timothy 3:16), put on the Whole Armor of God (Ephesians 6), and use the Whole Counsel of God to love, honor, & obey God (Acts 20:27) ... AND ... and, grace through faith alone, not of works so no man may boast--God's gift of salvation is free (Ephesians 2:8-10). Works are a result of submission to Jesus (the Bible), not trying to reach Jesus as Catholics teach (Catholic Bible). Why 'o' why do you, Catholics, not listen to God's Word?

+Joseph Christian Cruz And why do you protestants establish your own authority and neglect the Church He founded upon Peter? Have you ever considered that you may be the one following man made traditions? www.protetestanterrors.com The real question is by who's authority? Jesus said to his Apostles all authority has been given me. As the Father has sent Me so I send you. The Church came first and then the scripture 300 years later. This is why the early church fathers are so important to read. Do a little more work and study before you make such outlandish statements. I did and became Roman Catholic also.

Catholic Seymour Ok Cat Seym, the weblink didn't work ... don't worry I found it myself. It is better to use official Catholic Answer www.catholic.com, then an offshoot knock off of official CC doctrine and scholars of the CC tradition. My question always starts for catholics to please tell us what the "church" is according to the Bible? Continuing on after... Why do you pray to Mary for intercession plus Jesus? Why do you pray to dead saints, instead of Jesus? Why do you think transubstantiation is not cannibalism ... which we know it is not, but if the elements actually change to Jesus, then why cannibalism?? The Bible instructs not to eat or drink blood as the CC is practicing ... makes no sense. Etc....etc..... Thanks for listening and I await, sir.

+Joseph Christian Cruz Hello Joe!(Another one) Lemme see if I can respond to some of the issue's you have with Catholicism. 1. You said "the Bible also states beware against the Traditions of Men in MANY places." and that "How shocking is it that the Catholic Church forgets those verses and does not think about those when quoting this verse as the host did." Response: I presume you were refering primarily to Jesus condemning the tradition of the Elder's in Mathew 15:6-9 as one of the MANY places. But notice what it say's 6 And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.7 Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.9 But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men. Notice how Jesus emphasis's the "commandments of men" and while using the prophesy he quoted to show that it left them honouring God in vain without involvement from the heart. He was not condemning all traditions. He condemned only those that made God’s word void. In this case, it was a matter of the Pharisees feigning the dedication of their goods to the Temple so they could avoid using them to support their aged parents. By doing this, they dodged the commandment to "Honor your father and your mother" (Ex. 20:12). Now to hit the nail on the head with this one- Jesus was for tradition. Elsewhere, Jesus instructed his followers to abide by traditions that are not contrary to God’s commandments. "The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat; so practice and observe whatever they tell you, but not what they do; for they preach, but do not practice" (Matt. 23:2-3). The chair of Moses was a seat of authority that Jesus explicitly expressed that they had to be obeyed completely. How then does it make sense that he condemned tradition? Scripture makes a distinction between the traditions of men and the traditions authored and approved of by God. For instance- St. Paul said:And we also thank God… that when you received the word of God which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God… (I Thess. 2:13)II Thess. 2:15 adds:So then, brethren, stand firm and hold to the traditions you have been taught by us, either by word of mouth or by letter.According to St. Paul, the spoken word from the apostles was just as much the word of God as was the later written word. And he refer's to those 'traditions' AS the oral word as well as written. Now my question to you is- how is Sola scriptura feasible if the oral teachings are just as much the word of god as the written? And that we are to believe them as such if we are Christians and following the scripture? Hope to hear some responses soon! Now secondly let's take a look at good ol' 2nd Timothy 3:16All scripture is inspired by the God and profitable for teaching- for reproof- for correction and for training in righteousness. NOW let's not stop there- keep reading! verse 17: that the MAN OF GOD may be complete- equipped for every good work. Question to ya- who on earth is the man of God? The Lutheran Church that believes in baptismal regeneration?(Which I expect you don't) The Anglican Church who have used scripture to justify their doctrines of abortion- same sex clergy- women priests- contraception? And those are just a few example's....this leaves us with a quandary. If a Baptist is a man of God who does not believe in infant baptism and if a Lutheran is a man of God who practice infant baptism- then we have a problem! Because BOTH sides are using the God inspired scriptures to justify their position's and according to this passage all scripture is profitable for teaching and correction and you're basing this as a proof for scripture only as the final authority. Please tell me which man of God is using scripture profitably and correctly for teaching their doctrines that they hold as scripturally valid. 3. "AND ... and, grace through faith alone, not of works so no man may boast--God's gift of salvation is free (Ephesians 2:8-10)"= See? An area where I who I think you by you're response to "Catholic Seymour" that I and other Catholic's who love Jesus are 'men of god' are using scripture's to teach a different doctrine that we are bound too. I disagree that were saved by faith alone. We are saved by Grace alone because it is only through the grace of Christ that we can be saved- but faith alone is no where taught in scripture except to deny it(james 2:24) and to respond to Ephesians 2:8-q0- what about Romans 2:6-8 "For he will render to every man according to his WORKS to those who by patience in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality he will give eternal life but for those who are factious and do not obey the truth but obey wickedness there will be wrath and fury." the same Greek word for work's is used here is used in the Ephesians passage you sited. If we go by you're teaching then we have scripture being contradictory. UNLESS it isn't by faith alone- but works are involved as well in order for salvation to be kept then scripture can be balanced. It's a both ANDS teaching Catholic's believe is Biblical- not either or(faith alone/works alone). Hope to hear you're responses soon and then we can have a fair dialogue! God bless.

Britishguy18 Very articulate sir. This is the prime reason that i say protestants don't know the scripture as well as they think. I knew this to be true long before my conversion to the faith. You cannot interpret the bible accurately unless you read it as a whole on the one hand and as individual books as in a library on the other hand. Rather than drawing truth from the Holy Writ of God they extrapolate an entire doctrine on a few verses that suit their fancy. This was Martin Luther's whole problem. He could not live up to the demands of the Catholic life and reinvented the gospel to one of convenience. He failed to see the difference between the woks of the Law of Moses and the works of faith. Thanks for your eloquent words in defense of our wonderful faith.

It doesn't matter what bizarre claims people make. What matters is what does the Bible say! The churches of the Bible are very different than catholics! You need to consider getting out of that cult while you can and find yourself a Bible believing church! If you would like I can clearly demonstrate for you how the Catholic Church is in rebellion towards God according to the Bible, if you're interested in truth that is!

Human beings under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit. We have free will and so God does not force Himself on us by some "automatic writing", but He inspires men to write. Two of these inspired books were written by Peter, to whom our Lord said: "You are Peter, and upon this Rock I will build my Church and the gates of Hell will not prevail against it". Not: "You are Peter, and after I'm gone, my words will fade entirely until Martin Luther comes along 1,500 years from now and after that will come 30,000 denominations that preach everything from handling snakes to being unable to lose your salvation".
