Since my dad is a big Rod Stewart fan, I heard a lot of his music growing up, but never this one. It's a somber, melancholic story about a gay friend Rod lost. The subtle instrumentation makes you focus on the poignant lyrics. A track that was ahead of its time, it just makes me appreciate Rod even more. My dad once saw Rod behind a venue, and they waved at each other. That's one of the highlights of his life, lol.
Thanks for watching!

The three albums "A night on the town", "Blonds have more fun" and "Foot Loose & Fancy Free" were very underrated. Musically very interesting and adventurous.

I had always liked Rod Stewart. And when this song came out, I was even more impressed with his courage and artistic integrity. Although over the years I have noticed that British (and European) artists tend to be less concerned about sexual orientation issues. Good for them.

Saw him in concert last year singing a duet of this with Boy George who was his support on the tour. Boy George told the story of how his mother had bought this record for him as a way of telling him she knew he was gay.

Being a fan is something stranger to me. I like a lot of singers or groups but I'm not a fan. I mean, if my favorite band came to play a show in my town, I would stay home. It might sound weird, I know. No posters in my room, no t-shirt with a star on it either. I don't see the point. What I like is what I hear and that is enough for me. Rod Stewart? Unmistakable voice and some unforgettable songs.😊

Great reaction to a great song. I'd say maybe being too tough, that it was one of his last great songs. I'm very biased to his early carrer, which I really love. As you said that you father is a big Setwart's fan, I don't know how much you listened to his older stuff, with the Faces and solo, even with The Jeff Beck group. His first four solo albums are amazing. Gasoline Alley and Every Picture Tells a Story are among the best album from the 70s. It would be interesting if you, istened to songs from these albums. The title tracks from both albums are fantastic and nowadays aren't so well known. And Mandolin Wind is another beautiful and touching song that you could appreciate. Cheers!

Would it have happened if they didn't go out so late? If you know, you know. Such a good song, my mate used to sing this at the karaoke back in the day when we'd all get sozzled, strong nostalgia.

Part II was accused of plagiarism of the Beatles Don't Let Me Down, to which Rod the Mod nonchalantly replied " is it?, it sounds good though " 🎉

WOW, very interesting. I went to hear The Beatles song, and the two do have the same melody. I always thought Tracy Chapman "Fast Car" and John Mellencamp "Jack and Diane" sounded the same. I guess it happens. It happens a lot.
