Some songs have been right out there in public for decades, even in pop circles, and are straight-up country in heart, feel, and lyrics. This goes into the COUNTRY HEART playlist.

Best version of this song. I’ve loved it since I first heard it on the radio as a kid and bought the album as soon as I had some strawberry picking money!

Lovely reaction. Woody and Rod have been friends since the 60's when they played in the Jeff Beck Group, and the the Small Faces and the Faces. Always enjoy their interactions--they have similar humor. Wonderful song--the whole album is great

Rod's first solo album "An Old Raincoat Won't Ever Let You Down" had the first version of a very country "Man of Constant Sorrow" complete with amazing steel body slide guitar. It's sooo different from any derivation of this song title but guaranteed you will love it. Give it a listen even if you don't react. You won't be sorry.

Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood was in a band back in 69 the Small Faces /Faces , Ronnie Wood started with Rolling stones around 74 . If you hear Rod Stewart "This" is amazing . Rod Stewart is one talented singer he can go from every genres from soul r&b to big band Frank Sinatra . Glad to see him in your country pick . The same can go for Barry Gibb with the lost of his 2 brother of the Bee Gees he's stepping into country. The song "Words" was great of the Bee Gees but now with Dolly Parton is fantastic . 2 other worth listening to is Charlene Carter ( June Cash daughter) Song "Wildwood Rose" and "After the Gold Rush" with Linda Ronstadt, Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris ( look at the one on David Letterman, enjoy the water /glass harp lol )

Neither of them were in the Small Faces Glenda. Steve Marriott, Ronnie Lane, Ian Mclagan and Kenney Jones made up the SF. When they broke up in 69 after Marriott left, Ronnie, Ian and Kenney joined Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood to form the Faces. Marriott formed Humble Pie with Pete Frampton.

Amazing! I have loved Rod Stewart for a long while. Even through all the nasty rumors of the 70-80's. Of course I love The Stones. Thanks for posting, Captain. Blessings.

Did u have to say it then if it were rumors? Rod Stewart has had an amazing life. He was wild then and I suppose had much fun! Who cares!

I don't know if I asked for that but it was beautiful. I've always thought much of faces, Rod, and even the Stones music was written like country music. This was a nice performance.

Ron woods was with rod stewart before the stones, but you might know that. Listen to Maggie Mae 1971 rod and Ron ♡♡ Can you do Led Zeppelin When the Levee breaks? I know it's not in your realm of tunes, but it's a blues kind of song. Listen to the killer harmonica at the beginning.

I first heard this in ‘71, I think, when Rod’s Every Picture Tells a Story album came out. There were a few country influenced songs on his early albums. Stewart and Wood go back a long way. They played together both in the Faces and in the Jeff Beck Group. You mentioned Country Comfort, it was a cover of Elton John. John’s entire Tumbleweed Connection album would fit nicely on your Country Heart series.

Growing up In the 80’s I never really cared for Rod Stewart, but when I recently stumbled into the Faces I was really impressed. Check out their BBC video of McCartneys “Maybe I’m Amazed” fantastic.
