Thanks for this excellent review. This is a much needed update and improvement. I just did an on-camera A/B test last night of the Videomic Go Mk I vs. the super cheap Takstar SGC-598 (30 bucks) and the Røde was trounced. The improved fidelity plus its USB connectivity and adjustability makes this new model especially attractive.

Excellent video. Have always been drooling over the NTG and this is such a great budget frendly alternative. Wish it came with the lightening cable but for the price, fair. Wonder how it will sound for recording a live music act.

I have the NTG 5 and I just ordered the Videomic GO II. From other videos I've seen of this new mic, I am excited about what I can achieve with the Videomic GO II.

Yeah I'm sold as well. I record foley and have the MKH416, but this would be very handy if I need to quickly record something on my laptop.

Thank you for the review. I’d love to buy the ntg5, but the videomic ntg is also a good cheaper solution. Now we have a third option… mmm… 🤔

Thanks for the review. I just bought one and have tried it on my Sony A7 III but I get very low level and high noise to signal ratio. Is there a setting on the camera I need to turn on phantom power for mics? I cannot find any documentation anywhere.

Hey! Nice review. I have a question tho. Do I absolutely have to buy the SC15 to use the mic with my iPhone or the regular Type C to Lightning cable that comes with the phone works just fine?

In order for the NTG to record at the same level ( to have the same sensitivity)as the GO 2 , how would I need to set the gain on the NTG? I think the GO. Could be a lot easier to use in this respect.

Nice review!! Would be awesome if while the mic is connected directly to my DSLR camera, I could *also* connect the mic to my Macbook to simultaneously record a backup audio track. Have you tried this ZY, or do you know whether it's possible?

One thing I'm wondering is if you can plug it into a camera with a USB-C port so you can use the mic's 3.5 port as a headphone jack.

Less than 2 minutes in to the video, and I just went over to amazon and ordered the new mic lol. Just the difference between the Go vs the Go 2 is more than enough for me to make the upgrade from gen 1 to gen 2

The difference in audio quality was actually immediately very obvious when you switched back from B to A. But still, this new Go sounds to be one of the best entry level mikes that is set to shake the market.

The ntg don't work with Panasonic cameras 😭

@Sasuntidictous Rhoireiphapos my bad lol the NTG mic isn't compatible with Panasonic cameras. Even after their dedicated software update nothing works right. From noise while recording to no auto on off

1:50 I had the old Video Mic Go.. its a shame they ever released that product, it always picks up EMI noise out the box, and if you google, you will find people using tinfoil to solve the problem.
