Rodney was really on the cusp of a changing world. It has changed again 2 or 3 times since, dramatically.

We were still living under the shadow of nuclear war between the US and USSR. But at least back then we were able to admire and love any artist or athlete of any skin color, and to conversely dislike anyone of any skin color without being called a bad name by some asshole with a chip on their shoulder.

The lineup of newcomers is all history of awesome music. You can't be angry when listening to 80s music. And the cars were all great, awesome and affordable. Just nowhere near as fast as we remember..... compared to today.

This show that year, the next day teachers were confiscating so many sparkly white gloves, they didn't know where to stash it all in fact, it got to the point where getting caught moon walking in the hallways would get you detention.

YOU did. I’m sure there were a bunch of people going “this sucks I miss when the Grammys were good in the 60s when every presenter wore a suit and tie and had class” if you’re like a 12 year old right now I’m sure the Grammys are still fun to watch because they probably like alot of the artists there

It’s funny because there’s probably a lot of people who would see a drag Queen artist or performer at the modern Grammys and go “wow they’re ruining the Grammys with their agenda, what happened to how it used to be” then go to this clip from 1984 and there’s a drag queen accepting the award and got the most applause even when it was a group of all hits

@Torgo1969

One hit wonders? I prefer the term "flashes in the pan" because they get tossed out with the leftovers. And it seems to me that it was the 90s that had a lot of these utterly forgettable artists and songs. And as for "grunge", IMHO that style has aged utterly horribly, especially now that I have discovered Metal.

Man, I was 14 when I watched this. How much has changed. Not for the best, mostly. Todays' 'music' and 'comedy', non-existent. TV shows, mostly nothing but propaganda & race pandering now. Nope, I'll stick with my generation, my music, our comedians, our tv shows, and, when the time comes, so will you. #MAGA 🇺🇸🤯🇺🇸

I used to think as a kid, wow, how complex and specific people gotta be to come up with these kinds of music, individuality, personality, uphold to the extreme. Just for us now 40 years later to make everyone act the same as much as the other person, and force us to be equal, what a shitty shitty cultural heritage we're carrying right now..
