I believe they mostly hated it because people could play with minimal cards, meaning less money spend to be competitive. Does that sound on the ball?

@@lrainwater1608 and yet I said it. Battlegrounds is a vastly different experience, just like mercenaries (sorry, brb, I think I just threw up a bit in my mouth mentioning that game mode). Duels actually resembles the style of "normal" hearthstone.

@@GenerationLex I crafted quite a few cards for some duel starting decks. I bet it is close to 10k dust total. But doesn't matter. Decided to dust all my cards, remove all dust and then to delete my account

Thank God I was super scared that the best game mode ever that everybody plays would be removed instead of Duels. That woulda been a tragedy 😒

Hate to interrupt your little circle-jerk session, but even if Blizzard never touches Mercenaries, it's still perfectly playable since it's primarily a PvE mode. Meanwhile, Duels keeps getting broken with every additional expansion, and since you need to queue into your opponents they need to put some effort into keeping it balanced. I think dragon druid was the last straw and the devs didn't want to ban half the cards available to Druid for the expansion. Since Duels is a partially-constructed format, its existence affects the decisions made for each expansion, which also affects standard and wild. Mercenaries doesn't do that.

What an obvious comment, that again just shows how lazy Blizzard is, by simply not working around expansions and simply only allowing certain expansions into the mode. Mercenaries, put effort into something that was an obvious cash grab, that could have been put forth onto duels, which in this case actually has people upset about it.

My best memories from this game came from duels. I used to build meme decks while my friends watched me play and we all laughed together at how ridiculous every game was. Some games were also super long and it a fight of recourses, which also was super fun. I am gonna probably quit the game now.

Well technically half true. Duels is half constructed which makes it easy to build broken Decks (looking at u dragon druid) while Arena is full random

Sad. Duels was my favorite part of the game. Far more than Wild and Arena. Standard has been dead for me since its release.

Remember guys, Hearthstone removed duels today because they were too lazy to nerf cards for a specific game mode, thought it was too much to keep up with and wanted to realocate resources elsewhere. TURNS OUT THEY CANT do that for their main modes of the game.

Cause it was constant dev effort to balance and exceptionally few players played. But as it had scaling rewards it couldn’t just be ignored. It was a net loss to keep it.

Cant believe its actually gone today, the game feels a bit more empty now... I dont understand why they took it out thb. they should have reworked it or something. taking away something after its been added is a crime to the player!
