What RBG program is best to run this through? Like, you didn't have to modify anything to get the red static or RGB in general to work? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated.

It comes with a controller to set the colour and can also do some basic patterns

I haven't had a chair that costs that much to compare. it was more comfortable than the basic office chair i normally use that would cost around £150.

I remember the other vid with the lady reviewing another gaming chair and it got downvoted fast. nobody wanted a "gaming chair" review. It eventually got removed.

i know, it's mental! genuinely couldn't believe it and that searching through the packaging then looking at the instructions was a re-enactment of how i actually found out. It's lucky my partner had just happened to bring back the one she normally keeps at work or i'd have been stumped. lol

Why so much hate for this chair(based on the comments). It actually looks cool. Love the mirror-like rgb light below the headrest. Unlike anything i've seen so far. It would be better indeed if they added a powerbank considering the exorbitant price but having a slot for it on the back is already a winner for me. Other gaming chairs on the market doesnt have that. The fake seat belt on the back is nice too although it is unnecessary. Saw one available in my country but there is no review from a buyer I could refer to so I am still reluctant to plunge on it. The price is no joke for a gaming chair. It is even more expensive than SL which I observed everybody who is into gaming chairs raves about. Hope there is a video comparison featuring this chair and any from SL or from other brands.

I think it's mostly about the price, but this is not unusual for Asus, that's why there's a term "Asus tax". lol The chair itself is very comfortable, i too like the look of the racing straps and i didn't have a problem with their aesthetic, just the function they tried to add to justify it. I've only tried an SL labs chair briefly at a friends house a couple of years ago, as far as i remember it was good. I don't think there's a wrong choice really. If you really like the looks and the price isn't an issue, it will do you well. BUT, having used it more, the brakes are really, REALLY annoying. They're far too easy to knock on accidentally without realising and it gets quite annoying.

Bought my ergochair in big lockdown, waited a while for it to arrive to the UK but it’s well worth it, my only gripe with it is the foam cushion, I think it’s lacking a bit and I would have preferred it to have a mesh bottom kind of like what the backrest is made of. It got my foot in the door when it comes to proper ergonomic chairs, at some point this next year id like to pick up something from Herman Miller

@@DionLewiis that ergochair does look good. my one problem with herman millers is i don't like the mesh seat, doesn't suit my fat ass (or at least in the size i used in a former job). That combo of cushion seat and mesh back looks ideal though.

It's pretty comfortable. One of the best chairs I ever owned, and I'm in my mid forties and worked in offices all my life. People who criticize a product they never tried are pathetic.

You're appropriately critical of the failings and drawbacks of the chair, and I'm glad you compared the price with other chairs, especially the used Herman Miller, which is a 100x's better chair in every way ... but you didnt actually say you recommend it or you dont recommend it. I have to assume that for the price point you would not, and I got the 'impression' you dont ... but you dont say so. Its one thing to say 'if you're into RGB chairs with fake racing belts, it might work for you', but quite another to not actually give a recommendation, pro or con. Its a review ... you're allowed to.

Yeh I should have. And no, I personally would not spend £500 on this chair. I'm not fond of pleather or leather chairs, at all, especially when summer comes and you end up sticking to them, even when I was a lanky 13st 😅 I personally would struggle to spend that sort of money on a chair (my current one I got as a b-grade on ebay for £55 instead of £160), but if i did, I would want THE best thing you could buy, all the adjustability i want and not a fault on it. The material, the weight, the tilt locking not actually locking properly is too much against it for my liking.

depends if there is paycheck, always do you own research and test it out, herman is not even comparable, just another generic chair from another brand thats all

@@Gamingtechgg See above. I don't get any money from the manufacturers, nor am i instructed on what i can and can't say about a product and i will not do so, otherwise it's an advert not a review. I am somewhat hesitant to give a definitive YES/NO conclusion as so much depends on personal taste, use case and circumstances, so what i try to do is give the viewer as much information, both the negatives and positives, so that they can make their own informed decision.

£500 for a tarted up 'gaming chair' is daft.. foam stuck to chipboard construction... Totally agree for that money you would get you a very nice used Aeron, Steelcase or Humanscale chair with proper back support, comfort and build quality on the bay; slap an LED strip on it for £20 if you're that way inclined.

I never been one to recommend gaming chairs, as most things with the word "gaming" tagged on are just an excuse to bump the price up, but I've not had a lot of exposure to them. Had a quick try in some friends chairs and they were ok, nothing to write home about. Although this chair was very comfortable, someone else commented that the stitching is a common issue and if they can't get that right, then.... 😬 I'm going to try and get some use out of it and see what it's like, report back on wear and tear.

If that's fake pleather then it will start to crack, fall apart and leave messy bits of it on the floor after 6 months of use.

if it falls apart in 6 months, its a shit chair and you should get a refund. mine lasted 2 years until it fell apart like you say, only it wasn't made by Asus.

@@byCDMC Yeah, it's a shitty DX Racer chair. The chair itself is still completely fine up to now which I originally got back in 2016. But the fake leather material is falling apart only on the edge of the seat where your knees bend and constantly leaves messy bits of it when I get up off it.

Can confirm, after 2 years of using it the pleather is starting to peeling... kinda disappointed for a 500£ chair.

Friend has this, and the stitching is apparently a more common problem. His came with one a bit loose, and the other one already falling out. I don't think Asus do the quality control themselves. Most likely this chair is outsourced. Just buy a decent office chair instead please. 99% of these "gaming chairs" are made in China (not always a bad thing, but in this case it does mean below average standard) and use the same or similar cheap components. The TPU material used tends to not last very long and it's usually single stitched, which is understandable because it loves ripping. If you really must look like the cool kid on the block, and want lights shining right next to your head while camming with your buddies,... just screw light bulbs in your ears and swallow a battery or something. This chair is not worth it. No gaming chair is worth it. One exception being the one Logitech sells (Herman Miller Gaming Chair), but I don't exactly see that as a gaming chair. And, it's a bit more expensive.

That's not good to hear that the stitching is a common problem. that's something that should be so easily controlled an monitored. if i get to keep it I'm going to try and use the chair as much as I can and I'm sure my mrs will put some hours into it, see what the long term wear and tear is like. I've always been one to stay away from "gaming chairs". my own is a standard 4lever office chair, not top end by any means, but comfortable enough for as long as I can stay at a desk, which isn't long these days, and adjustable enough so that I can change my posture to reduce fatigue. I had an aeron when i worked at codemasters and this asus one is up there in comfort levels, i was really surprised how much more comfortable it was than my normal chair, well, until those side bolsters pissed off my neuralgia 😅 From what you say it might not stand the test of time though, but I'll try and get some use out of it and come back in a year or so to report.

@@MakinComputers I do still own a "gaming chair" but I'm replacing that later on this year. Two years in and things are randomly falling off, TPU is cracked everywhere, one wheel doesn't seem to understand what its job is,... and worst of all, it makes my back feel worse. I'll be going for the same chair I have at the office, which is also a Herman Miller (Sayl model). It's one of the ugliest chairs I've seen, but it is just so damn comfortable and my back loves it.

@Adam Strix Looks remarkably similar too 🤔 Edit: confirmed after looking at the construction video on CM website, it's the same core seat, even got the same coloured elastic underneath! lol I like the way their lumber support is attached and moved, but looks a little on the small side.

Not really no. After running a PC shop, and working in IT, I've tried many of them, also ergonomics like overrated HH Aeron chairs and I really like this one. My question to you is, why did you like this specific chair? What is uncomfortable or something? Did you try it?
