ASUS has launched the ROG XG Mobile eGPU in India and this eGPU brings the power of RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 to the ROG Flow X13 laptop. So, how much power does XG Mobile bring? How does it work? In this video, we show you the ROG eGPU in action.
The XG Mobile eGPU is priced at Rs. 69,990 for the RTX 3070 version, while the RTX 3080 version costs Rs. 1,39,990.

It's the perfect combination. Wonder why no one thought about it before. You can have a light portable notebook for normal productivity and a beast of a gaming machine when you need it. It's more thermally efficient, since gpu is outside and solves the eternal problem of gaming laptops being bulky.

eGPUs have been out for quite a while. Asus just optimized and locked it in within their ecosystem.

@@rishabhranjan9168 yeah, I know egpus were out there. They however were desktop gpus(size and heat) connected through thunderbolt (limited bandwidth) with custom enclosures that were bulky. Not really portable. XG Mobile has a mobile gpu, light in weight and size, doubles up as io hub and power adapter(no need for two diff power connectors) and doesn't look odd when you use it with a laptop.

If they increase the support to more devices like the g-series and decrease the price of e-gpus, laptops may end up as viable replacements to desktop pcs, without considering the portability factor.

No. Desktop PCs will always have their place and laptops won't replace them. But, the Flow X13 is an utterly amazing device for what it does, and some people will buy it because it fits their very specific needs.

@@niko1even I am currently studying 3d animation, and can't upgrade my pc due to GPU shortage. My peers are buying laptops over pcs, cause to them , laptops are more beneficial. I am not saying that the pc market would end up dying or something; it will perhaps shrink to a smaller niche consumer base with high productivity workflow. But for normal consumers, who play games and do work... laptops seem to be becoming more viable ...

can we get an external PCIe gen 4 x16 port outside so external GPUs can run at full speed? I mean these thick ass laptops and tablets trying to fit the biggest GPU they can with the biggest battery they can according to airport law is just stupid at this point, its portable but from just from 1 wallplug to another cause of how inadequate the battery is, not to mention the weight. a super-compact PC build would be much better or even better a laptop with a powerful CPU and external PCIe gen4 port so u can use the power when u actually need it and have good battery life and light weight for when u don't need it, plus u can easily upgrade GPU

I think they aren't gonna launch. Because they have launched RTX 3080 and 3090 and they surely don't want to decrease any kind of performances. But I will be also happy if they do launch RTX 3060 or RTX 3050Ti

If it has a Thunderbolt 3/4 port (almost all laptops with 11th gen Intel core i5/i7 come with a Thunderbolt 4 port), then yes you can, however there'll be bottlenecks, as Rupesh said, due to low bandwidth, and e-GPU enclosures are crazy expensive, not to mention, pc graphics cards are also priced stupidly high these days. So, I don't think it's worth the hassle.

Great eGPU, but I wouldn't buy this one. Having an eGPU with an embedded GPU card that cannot be replaced is not an ideal for long-term usage. Frankly speaking, the idea of an eGPU enclosure like the Razer Core X Chroma and AKiTiO Node Titan still stands relevant.

That's not the point. The Razer Core X does not charge your laptop or even power it, it's big and heavy, and it does not perform as well because it uses thunderbolt 3. The Flow X13 system may be very expensive, but it's meant for very specific needs.

Considering desktop 3070 costs almost 1 lakh now, getting a mobile 3070 for 70k as a dock with so many ports makes it a viable option . This device is better suited for digital artists and CAD designers on the move as the form factor is small and you can render your designs at your office with the dock. 13 inch, 1.3kg weight and touch support isn't something gamers would look forward to but for 3D artists its a blessing.

exactly. People are complaining that this laptop is a bad option compared to other laptops. But they're missing the point of this machine. It's meant for very specific needs, and no other laptops even come close to it for power + extreme portability.

My msi ge76 raider blows this machine out of water with sheer performance… i love asus but this machine with tiny display and limited ssd is a major letdown

Sure it does. but the problem here is that the MSI GE76 raider is a much heavier and big machine. It's meant to be super portable while performing very well, and it fits its job very well. It's an ultrabook, of course it will have a 13 inch display.

Yaa I wanna suggest one thing don't ever take asus acer laptops in India no service and spear parts will be delivered from other countries... Take dell or hp where spare parts will be available if any issue with system.. I had experienced everything and saying :))

Buy a laptop and then buy a GPU for the same price as the laptop for just show. You can just buy a average laptop for normal tasks and get a gaming pc built.

I probably wouldn't since that requires two different hardware altogether. Having an eGPU does help a lot for flexibility since you won't be using the GPU card all the time. That is very useful for someone who travels a lot.
