Footwork in my opinion is the first and most important part of hitting any shot

anticipation and footwork and decisiveness in shotmaking. Fed makes VG decisions on where to place his shot and you can tell it is automatic - no deliberation or second guessing himself

Something that’s really special about Fed’s ground strokes that I don’t hear very often is how his take back for the slice and topspin backhand is practically identical. You basically can’t tell which one he’s going to hit until he’s swinging.

@@LoveTennisOfficial Well, all I can say is that he’s doing sómething right! ;) His longevity and relative lack of injuries is proof of that. But apart from that, there’s a lightness in his footwork, grace in his movements and intelligence in problemsolving that makes it simply wonderful to see him play!

I find it interesting watching then taking it into my own practicing the shot difference on the forehand when he starts out planting his back foot before the stroke as opposed to planting the front.

I'm a huge Roger fan and he is my idol. However, I have a nitpick. 0:21 is a perfect example of why Roger's backhand hasn't been as consistent over the years as Wawrinka's. If you look at Wawrinka's swing path, he closes his backhand racquet face much earlier than Roger. Therefore, he has a more linear and closed swing path and there's less involved, so thus it's more consistent. Roger keeps his racquet face open too long on his backswing, so he has to close it at the last second instead of it being fully closed on the take back. Since he's the GOAT, his timing is immaculate. For us club players, I would not recommend this. I would recommend Wawrinka's backhand.

My favourite swing! He proves the Easter grip, which I prefer, Is not outdated! I fractured my wrist! I thought it was a simple fracture and would quickly recover, not so. As you can see, the wrist is tantamount to a proper swing. The power I generate causes my grip to release and wrist to buckle.

@@aizensousuke7107 dude needs to know that eastern grip or semi doesn’t really matter at our level. Play with the group that feels the most natural to you and focus on your footwork, contact point, and etc,. Everything goes hand in hand, it’s not all about grips.

Even though Federer vs Borg backhands were mechanically different, the rackets they seems to travel with the same arch, except Borg's two handed stroke forces him to be keep it closer to his chest. And Borg's forehand has more take back loop but perhaps because of being wooden racquet and being a heavier racket required more time to get the momentum going? I have gathered those observations and impressions when looking at Borg hitting his strokes in slow motion, although those are hard to find and the resolutions generally not this good.

He is the perfect tennis player. Sometimes it seems as if he doesn't even swet. Now if I were teaching a tennis player, copy his backhand, both topspin and slice, they have firm but relaxed wrists. His serve definitely, and his volleys. Not his forehand. It's a weapon, but he has a idiosyncratic "loose" wrist, very difficult to copy. The wrist must be firm but relaxed, but not too loose. A beginner would be better off copying Djokovic, not so much a weapon, but more copyable. And Djokovic's two handed backhand, if the player prefers that.

What do you mean by two different Forehand hands - did you mean he keeps his racket head close longer before he opens it - your right, but why did he change it - maybe because it's easier to stop hitting it off center & more power- yes or no

@@miguelormike6424 Fed's forehand at 15:44 is his old swing style. His old racket, the Prostaff 90, required a longer, whippier swing. On the other hand, his newer RF97 is more powerful but slower through the air, which is probably why fed made the switch to a shorter more compact swing. More control and more consistency. These are my opinions only based on play using both the Prostaff 90 and RF97 for a few months. You have to shorten your swing on the RF97 or you're be late on most shots.

It's never too late! Start learning now. Train hard. And if you die young, there's always the next life, if you pray real hard to be able to continue your goal to beat Federer in tennis, you will be reborn to a family of tennis players and you will get coached early on, then when you're twenty, with that new body and skill, and Federer hopefully is still around at a fit 70 or 80 years of age, then you can challenge him, and beat him. Your destiny accomplished.

@@miguelormike6424 well , my english is limited, i studied only a little, it's not to easy to explainer in english , better in italian language , obviously if the people play the forehand we are all Federer, obviously Federer is one teacher , this is one dream to play one forehand like Federer 😴😴 . For all us mortal people , we run near the ball and we open the arm much before that arrive the ball , and the racquet is always in direction of the net 🔙 , and the moviement of the arm is always with the same speed , au contrary, federer have the racquet that initially look the earth , and after give much speed only when push the ball .....i don't know if my english is good for to explainer. .

@@AmurTiger-vm5dy We run to the bar and we open the racket head to soon before the ball get's to us. The racket is always pointing toward the direction of the net. The movement of the arm swing is always the same speed that you want for that particular shot ( fast, slow or heavy topspin or slice ). We think that we can learn to hit a Forehand like ( NATURAL TENNIS PLAYER ) Roger Federer does Naturaly. " Not Easy " Thank you so much for that nice Reply
