A 39 year old stepping out on the court and hitting 200KMH serves, logic defying shots is purely out of passion for the sport. You see, he’s a multi millionaire, 20 time GS winner with pretty much everything an athlete could dream of and more and yet his love for the sport never fades. At this point, age is succumbing to Federer and not the other way around. All hail the GOAT

@@djjr9803 Well, that's obvious ain't it. If you're playing professional tennis, you scrap for every point (Tomic, Krygios being exceptions) that's part of the job. I think what the original comment meant was if Roger has a chance to finish the point, he tries to finish the point, instead of prolonging it. Nadal, Djokovic are okay with extending the rally, playing relatively safer shots, in the hope of winning the point eventually.

Any other player Federer's age would have lost. Cilic was playing with purpose and hitting with great pace. You could see Roger was struggling, when he was pushed to move either side, especially the backhand side. He was also framing and mishitting a lot of balls. But the man is a genius, he has enough tools and tricks in his artillery, to still pull out a win.

@@haircroak3332 Well ,no one can unless Rafa allows himself to be beaten ,like in 2009 or 2015 ,his worse years ,and also 2016 which he was forced to retire. The only way Roger has a chance to win RG is that he can keep up his form or even improving , Djokovic need to be out or at least tire in the quarters , and Rafa need to be upset by someone, he can’t lose in RG semis. It’s impossible to beat Rafa in good form , however if Djokovic wasn’t at his best or Roger somehow turn on god mode again there is a chance. But I have to say Roger is already surpassing my expectation , he might not be the favorite here ,but in Wimbledon he will always be a contender if he can keep up his good work.

Win or lose, just to see Roger participate in any Grand Slam is a treasure for die hard fans like me. We all know his time in professional tennis is ticking away, thus, watching him compete and still demonstrate the skills and competitive fire is indeed a treat.

I was so surprised by his footwork and speed this match. I know it's clay and that he still has it in him, but he was rolling back the years! Man what's joy it was to watch this match. His serves were on point, and his shot making was pretty solid too. I'm so thankful to see it. Comon Rog! Keep up the beautiful playing.

Love devotion passion genius ! All synonymous with our 40 yr old Champion. Go Roger. Boundless Love and respect for Roger. A lesson in class (not losing cool even after arguments with umpire and Cilic, giving 3rd set tie break point to Cilic although ump called it out). What else can you not do Roger ! You’ve won our Hearts over and over agin !
