At 12:45, Is it possible that the ball screw is too close to the head horizontally? Did you check for clearance/interference at the top of the travel? That view at 12:45 appears to be 'spring loaded', meaning the ball screw is being bent. Perhaps it would be better to have 0.005" clearance at the top of the travel, then verify 0.005" is still there at the bottom of travel, and then shim 0.005". It is very inconsequential for error at the bottom of the travel, but super important not to be binding at the top. If it is too close you could mill off 0.005" from 1 surface or the other until you are 100% sure of non-binding operation. at 18,45 in your previous video you are concerned about 1/2 degree of angular error, perhaps it is still there because of the irregular mounting surface?...Thanks for making these videos!

these nuts are simple to pop apart and reassemble. 51 balls, 17 per race on a 1605. i was scared at first too! they really ARE easy... unlike the old ...hobson? ones on the original screws i had. yuk. and they always needed cleaning out... not a fan of the Z like this. had it with the CNC fusion kit, its too fiddly for setup, and you lose a vital inch or more of that vertical travel! you need every millimeter on these! im taking that "slot the column" approach... the nut fits down there, just have to knock the edges off the webs inside. tiny little nubs. fly cutter or something... counterweights... tried a weight on a chain years ago first... horrible. gas struts, 15kg... some point after the fifth one failed it sort of sat unused and neglected for the last ten years... and the computer died... just scraped it all up and getting it back together now... leaking roof made a mess of things... so havent tried it, but the plan is a pneumatic cylinder. forget what diameter but iirc it should take 60ish psi for 15kg. regulate supply to not quite balance, then blow off valve set a bit higher. erm. the nuts are hard. just hacked one half of my X nut down... killed a carbide endmill... so far... the Y axis bolts together with no binding, no slop. invested a lot of time years ago and the results were disappointing. this time? well... i did a better job at scraping... and in hindsight? should have just hacked it out and used linear rails for CNC... sigh.
