The Rogue Bella Bar is the best-selling women's barbell of all time. But...is it the best 25MM?
🏋️‍♀️Get The Rogue Bella Bar - garagegymreviews.co/RogueBella2
The Rogue Bella Bar has been in existence nearly as long as Rogue Fitness has. It was their original bar designed for female CrossFit Competitors and those that prefer a lighter and thinner shaft barbell.
At 25MM and 15 KG, although this is largely considered a "women's barbell" it could be used by anyone.
For this review, we had GGR Lead Editor and Olympic Weightlifter, Kate, give her opinion of the bar and how it compares to other 25MM barbells she's trained with.
Enjoy!

I’m a guy and I bought a 25mm bar for my home gym for several reasons. 1. My space is limited and the shorter bar allows a bit more maneuverability. The shorter sleeves are long enough as long as you don’t use bumper plates. 2. You feel the bending sooner (good for a old guy that still remembers lifting heavier weight). 3. The smaller diameter feels better on deadlifts. 4. Being a girl-bar reminds me that I’m no longer competitive (I’m 67) and shouldn’t be showing off and hurting myself. Reasons not to buy: 1. It’s lighter and after using a 20k bar for years it takes a second to figure how much weight you really have on the bar. 2. Mine has pink on the inner sleeve edge and takes 28% off my manliness quotient. 3. The smaller diameter puts a narrower load path on palms and back when doing benches and squats, making it less comfortable for these lifts when using heavier weights. 4. If I were to use bumper plates, the loading length may be too short for heavier lifts. 5. If space isn’t a concern the full diameter/full length is probably a better choice unless you have family members who would benefit from the lighter weight and diameter. Just my observations.

My wife loves her pink cerakote Bella. One of the best things we picked up for the gym! The cerakote, however, significantly dulls the knurling. IMO it already has very passive knurling, but with the cerakote finish it becomes almost non-existent. She doesn't mind though, so it's never been an issue for her.

@@GarageGymReviews YES!!! That’s so beautiful to hear Mike!!!! The Bella bar, and the Rogue Curl bar have been a godsend for encouraging children, young adults, woman, and people that are not as “interested’ yet in lifting, or weaker… A 7-foot 45 lbs bar is too intimidating, and cannot be ‘comfortably” used by many children, young adults, woman, this is why I design home family gyms for all family members, therefore if having the kids and wife pick up a barbell and exercising is important to you, get the Bella and Rogue curl bar, and if on a budget get these bars (Bella and Curl) before purchasing a 7-foot barbell purchase. Not what every man is prepared to hear, but when I consult a married father on a home gym build, I must explain “this gym isn’t about YOU, its about the family” … They thank me after when they experience what you did, wife and kids using the gym = #PRICELESS

It seems the Stainless 2.0 Bella Bar has black composite bushings. Will these last as long as bronze? Not sure why they did that on a higher price point bar Bella. (note that the pic on their site shows bronze in one, but description says black composite). And, is E-coat indeed a thinner coating than oxide which should improve knurl grip?

No details on the different bushings of the different versions… The stainless version has composite bushings, why is there no mention of that ? What impact (durability, spin, etc) does it have ? This feels more like an intro to 15KG barbells, and an observation that black zinc will fade (without telling people they will then have to care for their bar like a bare steel one after that) rather than a full review.

Hey Coop, you seem to lean toward the stainless steel bars which have a lower FR rating than any of the Ohio other coated bars from Rouge. I am guessing that some part of the hardening process uses heat which does not work well with the stainless steel bar. Do you feel that the lower FR rating on the stainless steel bar is not an issue? I am shopping for an Olympic bar that will be used outside for the majority of the time.
@GarageGymReviews

The FR Rating really only matters for high volume gyms, like CrossFit affiliates. For single use home gym owners, the FR rating has little impact from my understanding of the test.

Something I can’t ever seem to get an answer to about this bar… Is the knurling pushed in more than a men’s bar due to the bar being shorter? My GF has more narrow shoulders so on deadlifts on a men’s bar she has her hands on the smooth, putting her on the Knurl is way too wide. Would a woman’s bar help with this?
@jamestonbellajo
@jamestonbellajo 2 жыл бұрын
Hey. I have both this bar and an Ohio Power Bar. The knurl is not pushed in more so I don’t think this would help your wife with a more narrow grip. The Bella Bar is only shorter overall due to the sleeves and collars. The shaft lengths for both are the exactly the same length so the knurl of the Bella Bar starts and ends in the same place as the Ohio Power Bar. Edit: I just measured the knurl for both bars. The knurl on one side of my Ohio Power Bar measured out to 17 and 1/4 inches and the knurl on one side of my Bella Bar measured out to 17 and 3/8 inches, so the knurl on the Bella sticks in ever so slightly. Definitely less than half of my pinky nail. I would treat them as the exact same personally. Shaft length is exactly the same.

@@jamestonbellajo Ohhhhh wow okay thank you so much first of all!! I’ve been trying to get an answer for that one for months, you are truly a life saver it was driving me nuts haha So I guess more petite women just have to lift on the smooth? Are female bars used in competition? Or, are they more for training?
@extrasmack
@extrasmack 2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the discipline. 25mm bars aka women's bars are used by the women in competitive Weightlifting competitions, 28mm are used by there men. In powerlifting, however, everyone uses the same 29mm bar unless competing in a federation that uses specialty (squat, bench, deadlift specific) bars of different diameters. For home use it really doesn't matter other than standard 45 pound or 20 kilo bars making weight calculations slightly easier. IMHO though, lift whatever works for you or what you got. Weight is weight. Incremental increases over time is what really counts in the end. Hope that helps.

I think it's a hold over from weightlifting where women compete with a 25mm thickness bar. Whereas men compete with a 28mm. It would be harder for athletes or coaches switching to crossfit from WL. Cleans, jerks, and snatches would just feel weird with a different amount of whip.

Hey Coop, how would you convert this bar with collars into proper Freedom Units AKA pounds? Spring clips would get you to around 34 pounds, but that's not so round a number. I don't see any almost 1 pound collars around to make a nice even 35 pounds, but they might exist. 17kg (15kg plus 2*1kg Vulcan collars) is almost 37.5 pounds and 2*1.25lb would make 40 pounds but would need a pair of permaplates. Competition collars plus Bella would be 20kg, then you'd just need another pair of 206g OSO or Rogue HG collars to make a right proper 45 pounds, but now you have two collars. Might as well slap 5kg a side on (2.5kg collars and 2.5kg plates) and make it 25kg/55.1 pounds. As an American, I will do anything to avoid the metric system.
