There is an inch or two of space in the brackets allowing you to lift the post as your fold it. But It all depends on how you install the brackets relative to the height of the horizontal post. 5:56 shows the horizontal post sits too high in the bracket.

Hey and thanks for the comments, 1) the wall hangers are just from Home Depot, (orange hangers) and I think are for tools and bikes etc..they work great. 2) I ended up wrapping the bolts with heavy duty Teflon tape so they had tighter tolerance, it definitely cut down on slack and the noise about 50%.

How are the 2 x main vertical bars sat in relation to the floor? Surely they have to sit deep enough to not move when taking weight, but also not deep enough so that you can fold them away? Especially on softer rubber flooring?? Assume when unfolded out there is some give in the back mechanics to enable it to drop slightly when taking weight?

Exactly, there’s a hard plastic foot cap that allows it to slide decently along with slight slack in the joint to allow it to take weight.

I have a baseboard and an outlet and cable Jack. There isn't enough space between them. If I was to go above the outlet and Jack they top out at 15 inches. Edmon Jiddou Sounds great, thanks a lot! I just ordered the new monster version of the folding rack and I probably won’t use the fold back function until I will move in a couple of years so maybe I’m thinking about making an adjustment so make it fixed instead of flexible if the noise still bothers me. Have a great day and thanks for all the information Edmon!

Edmon, thank you for the video. I am putting mine together today, and it came with rubber feet for the bottom of the poles, but I can't seem to get them in! Did yours come with them or did you forego them? Thanks for the help! Love your setup!

Use a rubber mallet, or hammer with a wooden board so you don’t damage them. They will fit. They just need some love 👌

Also, you definitely want to use them, as they act like a slider for the uprights.

So when you fold it in and back out again, are you dragging the legs against your floor? I'd want the unit flush/plum but if you're able to pull it out then wouldn't the front slough, causing weight added to eventually be pulling/tugging at the bolts attached to the wall? **Sorry if you mentioned this I don't have audio
@EdmonJiddou
@EdmonJiddou 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, so the bottom of the towers have a hard plastic foot that acts similar to furniture sliders, it supports a share of the weight so the wall isn't being asked to support 100%.

It’s designed to “drag” it needs to make contact with the floor, it has hard plastic feet that act as furniture sliders.

when it swings out the the open position does it sit of the floor at all for support? or is the entire weight of the rack supported by the wall?

Yes the legs share the load when swung open, I legs take the impact load of racking the weight.

@@EdmonJiddou thanks for the video and the replies~ If the legs are making good contact with the floor, aren't they scraping the floor when they are swung in and out? My install is in the garage where the floor is curved so you can see my concern.

I feel like the bolts are too big for the studs. How did you make sure you didn't damage the studs while installing the stringers?
@TheEvanH09

You pre-drill the stud. Best way to ensure a good fit without splitting or damaging the wood. Same Goes for any wood project.

When you have it folded flat against the wall, how much space is between the post and the wall? I’ve got a lip on one of my garage walls where the foundation sticks out at the bottom. It would interfere with folding it flush against the wall so I’m curious how much space the stringers plus brackets provide.
@EdmonJiddou
@EdmonJiddou 4 жыл бұрын
I would say there is a 1.5 inch gap from the posts when they are “flat” against the wall. They can travel more and go past parallel to the wall but I keep mine flat. Hope that makes sense.

Home Depot sells them in all kinds of sizes, they come with stud anchors and can hold a good amount of weight. The orange rubber grip on them is the same one rogue uses. Around $7 a piece.

Would you recommend assembling the whole rack and placing it against the wall so you know exactly where the stringers should be placed or do you think the process you followed by installing the stringers first then the rest of the rack was the most efficient?

Dude I need some help. The hex bolts that goes into the cross members has a low profile hex nut. but my low profile hex nut has a nylon insert and prevents it from fully turning and tightening flush the way it should be. Did they send me the wrong hex nut or am I doing something wrong? Please let me know if you have any ideas. Thank you.
