When my '75 Penton 250's swingarm was broken and I was awaiting parts, the shop I worked in which sold Rokons had an RT340 shop bike. They let me take it for the harescrambles that weekend. While the enduro version was really heavy, it had very good acceleration and power, and no engine braking but excellent brakes. The dead engine start standing ba kward over the front fender was tough with the pull starter which faced backward. Over the two hour race, I got into the lead in the open expert class, endoed at high speed going downhill and split open my chin when the bars hit me, got back on and got the win. Would never have guess that bike could do that.

Looks and sounds amazing! It really belongs in the museum,maybe a historian will buy it for you to keep in your museum! That would be a great blessing!

In about 1952 was the first annual Beer Can Derby .it was always an outlaw race held on thanksgiving day south of terre haute ..the course would start on the east bank of the wabash at the darwin ferry we ran some times 2 laps some times 3 laps of river bank and river bottoms of a total with 3 laps 135 miles start to finish depending on how deep the river bottoms was flooded and how cold it was as some years the flood waters were frozen over .and ice screws were permitted that you wanted in your tires year round as we road the trails all year beside the Beer Can ..so it got packet hard under miles of shaded trails of huge 800 year old never cut forest the trails got so slick they were shinny and ice screws was a game changer ,,it was the farm land of around 2000 acers that was the Hale farm ,,we usually had on an average of around 400 entries show up and from 7 different countries ..it might have been 1973 as word had already got out a few days before there 3 factory team riders on their way with 3 brand new 340 Rokons that every one noticed the mag wheels and the disk brakes as there was no other bike with disk brakes for another 10 years ..and something came up and i didnt make down to the bottoms to see them run but if i remember right out of the unusual 400 riders of about half DNF . The team Rokon cleaned our clocks with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd overall with no one around to even give them a fair chase ..the suspension is probable and inch longer than the average ..in the wabash bottoms you will have 100 to 200 acer fields and then low areas that always left as naturel forest not farmed to control run off and erosion ..so you got 20 to 40 acer woods that one second later you are running down harvested corn rows that are cut using combines with straw choppers one the back that works like a tree trimers shredder ..so there are no corn stalks cause the combines shredded everything so the corn rows are clay sand and ground up a and the Rokon top out ahead of the big bores ..you are hooked up with the right people ask them about winning the Beer Can Derby. Terre Haute in around 1973

Most racers, including the factory guys ran spoked wheels. The spokers were actually lighter then the mags.

Husqvarna made automatic transmission 4 spds no engine braking. Rare to find 360 auto models. I tried one almost went into trees no engine braking freewheeled when off gas. Honda and Husq and Rokon only ones with Automatic transmission? Rokon used snowmobile belt CVT

There was a small kawasaki dealership in macon ga that had unique bikes. Rokon was one. It was different and I will never forget it.

I've ridden an RT-340 quite a bit and its totally amazing once you understand how it works. Those enduro bikes had 21" front wheels which were better suited for off-road use.

I have a friend that races one of those almost every weekend and is always at MVD Him and the bike are Both Badass. Sorry have to edit his is not the factory racer bike.

Now I heard that about Keene New Hampshire but at one point I could have sworn it was the Rhode Island racer. Might have something to do with the Enduros that they ran I don't know but I was just a kid going to races in Rhode Island I don't know correct me if I'm wrong.
