Here we are summiting a mountain above the treeline in Utah with Rokon two wheel drive motorcycles. There is some good scenery especially up higher. The video does not show how steep it actually was. You can tell a bit by the angle of trees and if you are familiar with the machines, by the load on the motors. Near the top they are straining even in super low first gear. There is exposure with many big time drop offs throughout that would be bad news. Thanks for watching!

Cool. The older two stroke Rokons were awesome the newer four strokes not so much. The fours are sackless on a steep loose sandy hill. They cant spin the tires fast enough to keep them from digging in too deep and getting stuck. Plus with the 4 cycle engine the last thing you want to do is float it in water sideways because if you swamp it you better have stuff for an oil change with you. The 2 stroke pull the spark plug crank it over a few times put the plug back in and go.

Alex Erisoty Photography are you still located in Utah? Just bought a new Rokon and would love to get out more on it But really uncomfortable going by myself a lot of places and don't know truly what the machine can do. Are you up for a ride sometime? Look me up on Facebook please!!

Fantastic video! Very skilled riding and great scenery. I have a '72 Trailbreaker that I'm in the process of restoring (mostly just cables, bearings, and other small bits). It's a beast, and you guys make riding them in steep country look easier than it is.

The older Rokons are two stroke and more than 40 pounds lighter than current production four strokes. They are faster too. They are a simple machine so it's not hard to go through the entire thing and make it 100 percent. There is a great website, rokonworld, the message board there has all the info you need.

You guys are nuts! I have several Rokons but I would never try this, I have a deserved fear of heights and the cliff side stuff scares the H out of me. I have done a lot of riding on the Moab trails and could go places where regular dirt bikes fear to tread. Great but unnerving video, for me at least. I have watched it several times on an 80" big screen and it is like I was there, sweating and all.

What a good way to get a feel for the land, no need for a map of the area when you see it from a mountain top or summit.

Wow, now THIS is impressive. I have seen a bunch of Rokon videos most of which other vehicles could have done but this was insane. Especially the last bit and I am aware of how video makes steepness not look that bad. This is terrain where being low really makes a huge difference. Would like to see a pro enduro rider try this.

I've ridden that trail many times on my KTM, and now I'm thinking about getting a Rokon. Those switch-backs going up to Ben Lomond would be easier on a Rokon. But at least with my KTM I can ride from my house to the divide peak, then up to Ben Lomond, then over to Inspiration point, down to Mantua, and then ride 89 back to Ogden. I don't think that would work on a Rokon.

When it comes to bears, cats and moose, if your not in 3rd gear your critter food. Even in 3rd gear top speed is only 37mph, the older ones are slower, all three critters can still get you, ride in 3rd and carry a BIG gun.

+Matthew Chlad Thanks Matt! We tried to be on the gas when we could. These Rokons are from the 80's with the two stroke motor, they are lighter and faster than the stock current model. I clocked mine on firm dirt with the tires harder than normal at 36mph on the GPS, with soft tires on sand 28 is it. I had a blast bombing around at Little Sahara in Utah but these machines are best at a walking speed where there is no trail at all.

Sorry to disappoint you but your ignorant comment is unjustified and unwarranted, you need Correction. The fact is… this particular trail is part of Utah’s tremendous OHV trail system which encompasses hundreds of thousands of acres and thousands of miles of legal trails. Utah has three classifications of roads/trails and their allowed usage. All motor vehicles allowed, those under 50” wide, and motorcycles only. This particular trail is multi use; motorcycle/hikers/horses only. It is severe in places, only Rokon two wheel drive motorcycles and experienced Trials riders can reach the summit (look up trials riders, not trail riders). This ride/video is fully legal through magnificent terrain thanks to the great State of Utah and their OHV program. You have publicly and falsely accused me of illegal activity. I await your apology….

Alex Erisoty Photography you say trials bike, not trail bike. Pretty damn sure if it can be done on one of those little beasties a good trailbike/enduro rider would do it with ease. Not bashing or lookin to bloody argue with anyone. Just my two cents. The shit they get them enduros up is crazy.
