Stream to the roku is a real plus, but no playback a real minus. Plus another app and platform to deal with

No "Playback" option is a huge deal breaker.

Purchased several Wyze cams couple years ago including stationary, moving and wireless. Great video and lots of features. Very happy with them especially for the price. We can check on our house and pet while we are away. I had a wired in my fridge in my garage but lately keep going off line due to colder weather so I just replaced it with a wireless made for outdoors and it works great. Great video and recommend the WYZE.

The Roku does have the same settings as wyze for the IR, in your video the night vision was turned off thats why you did not see the other options.

Roku camera is a crippled version of a hobbled Wyze cam. I've run 10 of the Wyze cams for the past 3 years or so. They used to work fine. Now, I can tell you, the Wyze cams are not very reliable. Lots of disconnects, bad firmware updates that sometimes brick the cams, app updates that change all of your camera settings, and too many other products associated with the app (scales, watches, vacuums, gun safes, locks, sensors, etc.). If you have some time on your hands on a daily basis, get a Wyze cam or two. They'll keep you occupied.

Another set of differences between Roku cam and Wyze cam are: 1-Roku cams not sold in Canada. 2-Roku home app not available in the Canadian Apple App Store.

Thumbs up on this video brother. Man this is def a clone. And i agree 100% no playback is instant death for this at release. I love the Wyze v3 motion detect camera , that was an awesome video. Wyze is def coming up in the affordable camera game.

I HAD an outdoor WYZE 3, specifically for the time-lapse feature. Worked well for almost 6 months. Then, each time they pushed an update, the time-lapse feature would be inoperative for a few days. The final update, it stopped working completely. I sent data to WYZE & posted the issue on their customer service board. Nothing was ever addressed. WYZE is inexpensive for a reason. It’s not very reliable. Not throwing more money at their products.

You said what I needed to hear at about 1:45, can't add wyze cameras to roku app or vice versa. If I knew that I wouldn't have invested so much in wyze cameras in the first place. Oh well. Still trying to figure out how to connect.

After watching your review on this Roku security system. I have now come to a final decision that I'm gna jus stick wit my Night Owl security system. The doorbell cam is the same price as the Roku doorbell cam. Yet Night Owl security not only you live view but you can live view all the cams at the same time plus the app is free no cloud platform. For maybe $180 or so you can 4 hd outdoor cam and a DVR. Plus SD card on the doorbell cam. Can record store and view on phone, computer, and tablet. I only have an older model doorbell cam and besides the motion sensor picks up anything that moves. I have a recording of an animal in Idaho the appear to be a Badger 🦡. I kno my animals it was not a skunk I showed the clip to my brother and he was a bit worried for his son's safety even though moose can walk right up to our house.

Wyze works with Alexa and can show you one camera at a time with an Alexa skill on a fire tv and have Alexa announce when a person is detected.

If you have the Google Chromecast I think that the name, you can see the Wyze cams on your tv, You just have to link the cams to Google home app

The big benefit is that you can have camera feed pop up on TV via Roku including multiple cameras at once which is neat The Roku rep at CES also said they increased the data security compared to Wyze

Have the wyze cam...have been having major issues with it lately with it just not working or recording. Its annoying. Im considering getting another one. But I've had issues with it since getting it but it seems to be acting up more frequently. Going hours without recording (so far, about 12 hours at least once). I got mine a couple years ago because I kept getting stuff stolen. Others in my neighborhood are now complaining about it. So, I HAVE to have cameras

I have two Wyze V3 cameras mount in front of my house viewing same area, the one with cam plus subscription will when viewing recorded event start play, pause, skip 2-5 secounds, play in jerking motion. Event the playback event with do the same thing. The V3 without subscription has a short bit of pause and skip but not as often as the one with subscription. And of course Wyze has nothing to fix this problem. I will not and advise everyone not to purchase any new products until they can provide customer support on prior models of cameras.

So could I just buy the ROKU camera and use as is or do I HAVE to pay a subscription to use?!

I tried a Roku 2-pack. The Roku app is very undependable, not allowing me to turn OFF cameras. Finally packed them up and returned to Roku.

If I buy this Roku camera and set it up on the Wyze app is the option to play video from the SD card through the app still disabled? I only ask because the Roku camera is only $19 at my local Walmart.

Dissatisfied Found out after 14 days my camera stopped letting me watch any recordings unless you pay for the subscription. Throwing mine in the trash. Anyone know of a camera that doesn't require a subscription to show me recordings. That old saying you get what you pay for.

I got a eufy cam because they seemed like the only company to not cripple the camera without a subscription. I would have gone with the cheaper wyze in a heartbeat had they not done that.

In UK we had a camera called Neos. Looked identical to Wyze V2….but you couldn’t play back from the SD card. You had to remove it and put into a computer etc. Absolute garbage. Wyze is still not officially available here - even though they told me three years ago they were looking at coming to UK.

Even though wyze made this product You cannot connect their products to the Roku or vice versa it will not work😢

Roku camera quality is good enough, but their cloud storage is not reliable, I get allot of error failure to upload video to cloud messages, I don't trust roku for security because it just might not record that important video on the cloud.

I'm salty that the Roku app gets dark mode before the Wyze app does. I hate getting blinded by light mode when I check my wyze cam at night.

Great! How long will it be before Wyze removes the playback feature. I have 7 of their V3 cams, none with their crap AI detection premium plans. They're just about useless now. I'll toss em in the garbage if they cripple them further.

Having to remove the card from the camera to watch the footage on a computer is a REAL downside for the Roku, and that makes the Wyze cam a clear, superior winner still. Sure, you can watch on a TV with Roku, but that's just another point of failure if a camera doesn't connect with a Roku player (and it also makes less of a case for having a microSD card).

The Roku Cameras are CRAP! With them you cannot share a camera like you can with Wyze. You cannot view the video timeline from the Micro SD Card like Wyze (Roku tells you to remove the card from the camera and put it in a PC which is pathetic.) Most of the time lapses will not download with ROKU cameras. The Doorbell video often will not connect with Roku and it has never given any notification on my Roku TV. Roku Cameras frequently stop recording events even though the camera seems to be online and working, leaving you to need to reset the power to the Camera, oh and ALL THE TIME, the cameras having issues uploading events (even with premium subscription) so it leaves your house vulnerable when you think it is protected. ROKU and its cameras are CRAP!

I hate these cameras so far. Sooo many people have the same issues as me - maybe someone has a solution, because roku sucks for customer service and gives the same response to everyone "we'll forward it to our proper team." Sick of companies. First off, the cameras work great the 1st few days of the 14 day trial version. Then they both started messing up to where video playback within their app lags almost like it plays in frames but the seconds lag too, but if I download the video...its fine. Then after a bit, it shows there are like 14 sec videos but only gives a blurred snapshot and "failed to load". Its a joke. I figured out that when it starts doing that, you need to go to each camera and click to restart camera and then it will start recording video again (but still lags in playback view). I want to view the video within the app and watch it play smoothly and Roku doesn't do it. I use Samsung Galaxy 9+. My camera is also only 6 ft from my wifi gateway. Also...the speakers suck. The volume is extremely low and nobody can hear you talk to them if they are at your camera unless they put their ear to the camera - everyone is complaining about it too. When someone walks and your camera records, it blurs features, so good luck trying to identify faces because you won't be able to if they are moving - their bit frame sucks. What's really irritating is they have HD on LIVE viewing, but you WON'T have HD for a recorded video (figure that one out) - it's like they reduce the quality to save space. I then went and purchased theue $10/mo subscription which covers all cameras because I wanted to see if having the subscription would unlock some features I thought existed and maybe playback would be fixed and the quality - ummm no. You get no extra features. What a joke. The only thing you get from the subscription is just being allowed to get your usual crap videos instead of just snapshots that you'll only get when the free trial runs out on your cameras. Their software is unstable with recording quality and playback smoothness, and It's just a matter of time before I'll have to reboot the cameras once again because it decides to only do snapshots. I'm new to security cameras, so cloud is basically their app? So if I can watch recordings within the app, that's their cloud? Because my Samsung cloud doesn't have Roku recordings sent to it. Any help in resolving my issues..would be soooo appreciated

I have the the roku se indoor camera and even though the camera is on the hd quality doesn't look crystal clear when i look at the live view or any recording. This camera is very terrible and i regret buying this crap!!

If roku is getting into ameras, they are DESPERATE. Their stock is dipping hard. Desperation. They couldn't even try to come up with difference shape of the case. I would never buy it. Maybe if they had RTSP which Wyze doesn't I would pull the trigger.
