Other Roku Secret Menus and Settings to Try
To access the Wireless secret menu:
1. Press Home five times.
2. Press Up, Down, Up, Down, Up.
The Wi-Fi menu should open.
To access the Images and Ads menu:
1. Press Home five times.

How to Access the Reboot Secret Menu
This isn’t really a menu at all. It’s simply a code that will reboot your Roku device. Once you enter it, your Roku will no longer respond to the remote until it has completely rebooted.
To reboot your Roku device:
1. Press Home five times.
2. Press Up, Rewind, Rewind, Fast Forward, Fast Forward.
Your Roku will seem to freeze and won’t respond to the remote.
After a short while, your Roku will reboot.

At home, we've got a Roku Ultra, but at an Airbnb we stayed at, there was a Roku enabled TCL TV. That thing was hot garbage. Super laggy, everything takes forever, menus were slow. (Compared to a Roku Ultra) I mean, I guess "it works," but it makes Roku look really clunky.

In your description of this video you list some remote "hacks". The last one, you incorrectly called it "reboot". This is actually a kernel hang, and it's much more useful than rebooting. In simple terms, the kernel is how the hardware and software communicate. Causing a kernel hang can solve more issues than a simple restart/reboot.

I have several Roku boxes, a Roku TV, a 2019 Shield, and my latest Sony TV does Google TV and getting everything I might want on each one is challenging. On the Roku stuff I tend to stick with what they offer. The Shield I tend to try oddball stuff as developer mode easily and same with the TV but they still tend to refuse to install some apps Saved and repped and might have to jump through the button pushes from hell and see what works.

Don't waist your time. Roku does not accept to install more than 20 apps and for this reason no one teaches anything of which apps can be installed on Roku. It's much better to invest in any device with Google TV

Jellyfin has been really nice for me so far. I have Jellyfin server running on a mini PC I'm using as a media center and then there are different client installers you can get on their site, one of them is for Roku. I should add the caveat that I haven't set up the Roku install specifically (thus why I'm watching this video), but Jellyfin in general has been really smooth sailing so I expect it to work fine. It has a nice interface that automatically pulls meta data and images and stuff when you put movies into your media directory (even lets you choose from a few different images on a lot of the content). It's free as well.

8 months since the comment but... No, there is no ad blocker on KZfaq as far as I have seen... Also, players like VLC, Kodi, etc. dont exist, the only way to see m3u on Roku is with the "Web Video caster" mobile app and from the phone to transmit the m3u to the roku...

Only thing that seems to be different is that you have to go through a sequence in the beginning in order to get developers options. Once you get into the actual 3rd party section. What is avaible to download and will it be worth the effort.

What I found out is that the goal is be able to get a Browser installed. There are instructions to get Developers Options on the device and get a Browser. Then get Downloader. After that, use it like a Fire Stick.

@@greytape4557 Actually, they removed the feature all together. Even worse still? Nobody develops third party apps for Rokus OS, because .apks won't even WORK. (Roku isn't even based off android, they designed this from the ground up to be annoyingly crack proof. Which is why they refuse to allow a native browser.) So this WHOLE video is CLICKBAIT. It is not true 😮😮 I have to say that I am disappointed with the limited functionality of Roku as a TV box. One of the major drawbacks is that it doesn't allow users to install APKs and gain access to the Google Play Store. This severely limits the range of apps and content available on the platform, meaning that users miss out on a lot of potential entertainment options. It is still very limited in terms of functionality.

Anything is better than conventional programming. We cut the cord in 2008. "You mean I have to watch whatever they put on at a given time? Why would I want that?" Conventional cable should be dead by now, but there are still huge amounts of people who want to watch ads, have limited selection, and have no control over which content is available at a given time. Every time I stay at a hotel, if I turn on cable, I remember why I hate it.

Can I install regular Bluetooth? Their Bluetooth is a proprietary version which is not compatible with mainstream speakers. You have to buy overpriced roku compatible speakers instead.

That's my only real issue with Roku, no dedicated VPN app support. As far as I know, you must configure the VPN within your modem/router settings on Roku, that's the only option.
