I just bought a tr-8 (My first drum computer). Whenever i try to make a patern i cant use the ride-symbal at The same time with a openhat. Is It possible to play those at The same time when i change something in My setting or isn’t this possible at all? I have My tr -8 connected through stereo output to My mbox pro (interface)… (i dont know If that has something to do with it). Help would be very appreciated!

Can anyone explain to me how come on 13.57, when the decay of the OH is all the way open, some lit up knobs on the sequencer still produce a one with a short decay? Been trying to fix this but I see it's exactly the same in this tutorial for some reason... Not all buttons play that sample and play it at the same decay the INST knob is indicating, really annoying please help!
@4FrameMusic9 жыл бұрын
+xavke91 i don't own one, but i'm guessing it may have something to do with either the "Accent" parameter triggering on that sequence, or, like the original 909 where you had the ability to tap 3 times on an instrument button to toggle velocity (or loudness) of that instrument when the sequencer triggers it!

Hey Leonard, this tutorial/demo was honesty even better than the ones Roland did themselves. So thanks for that :) Was wondering though, if you'd had a chance to use the MFB Tanzbar yet? Can't seem to find any in depth review for it. .. Thanks again!
@mattydafatty30088 жыл бұрын
Hey mate! I've got both the Tanzbar and a tr8... The tanzbar in a nutshell has its own sound which I think makes it worth owning. It's cymbal and hihat are very 606/808ish. One kick can get 909 or 808, and a lot more! The other kick is great for 808 and as a pitch bend bassline. The clap is unique sounds very nice. If you want I can go on?:)

Any idea how to get the tr8 to sound MORE ass-kicking and less clean? I got a set up recently (mx1, tb3, tr8, m1, and some of the efx modules) and need a really hard rustic gritty punky sound to be appropriate for the hard punky acid-techno I enjoy making, but for me so far, I'm finding the tr8 a bit flat, weak, with little genuine dynamics. Any hints or tips anyone?

Pan Croque sample based drums ?
@Claidheambmor3 жыл бұрын
The machine has quite a dry sound. This is preferable for a producer as dirt can be added but can never be removed once recorded. Run it through some drive or distortion for some grit.

Is there any latency when working with software? I want to get one but mainly as a tool for the studio so ideally I would want it to work swift with cubase. Does it sync up with your software when recording/playing back? If you could do a more in depth video on the tr8 with software ware that would be epic. Cheers
@KUPHSER8 жыл бұрын
Otherwise would I be better off running the tr8 through a channel on a external mixer, and then recorded from the mixer to audio tracks on cubase? Which would also mean I would be having to chop and shift audio edits to keep beats in sync
@KidBlastNYC8 жыл бұрын
+KUPHSER I know this is a few months old, but yes there is latency.

@garystackhouse57875 жыл бұрын
I think it's an affectation they all copy which helps them to believe they're musicians creating art, regardless of whether that's the case. It's much like the "guitar solo" face you see guitarists and wannabe guitarists use, regardless of whether they're any good.

you know why the 808 and 909 are "legendary"? Because, as the man stated, at the time they didn't have a lot of value and people were giving or throwing them away. Thus creating a chance for the typical poor man (with a lot of talent) to get his hands on one. You think a young man from the ghetto had over a $1000 to by a drum machine when it came out in 1980?
