Florida State Representative Kimberly Daniels is facing renewed controversy over past remarks on slavery after joining Florida's African American History Task Force.
Daniels, a Christian pastor, made these statements about the LGBT community and slavery in a 2008 sermon. Take a listen to this foolery.
Wednesday, the Florida Board of Education approved new standards for African American history.
The new standards will teach Middle school students in Florida that slavery gave Black people a "personal benefit" because they "developed skills and teach high school students that single bloodiest day in modern American political history against Black residents of Ocoee, Florida, in 1920 included acts of violence perpetrated against and by African Americans even though dozens of Black residents were killed in the massacre.
Critics say someone with such views on the education task force sends the wrong message to marginalized communities and undermines efforts to promote diversity and equality within Florida's schools.

Thank you, Roland!! As a fellow African who actually grew up in the Motherland, you actually got our religion/spirituality!! I believe it may have been too sophisticated for the invaders, hence they reduced it to "paganism". We did not worship inanimate objects, but rather, as you said, we appreciated or saw the "god" in them as God is the creator of all!! As for Rep. Daniels, She's a victim of her education! This is what she was taught and unfortunately, she believed it. Trust me, she's not the only one with this belief!!! This is why DeSantis does not want our true history taught; he, and people like him, would like more Rep. Daniels in this country.

DeSantis cannot legislate against all mediums and formats that deliver knowledge about African American history. His attempts to do so, in the advent and advances of the internet and the easy accessibility it gives you to data, is akin to him trying to catch the sea with a sieve. I find it absolutely extraordinary, that anyone could make such statements, given the incontrovertible documentation of the horrors of slavery. The double shift that our courageous female slave ancestors were forced to pull, in the day picking cotton in the field , and at night, subjugated to further untold horrors of sexual abuse and she sees benefits in slavery? Wow! This statement tells you how emotionally and intellectually under developed she still remains-despite her education. She forgets that in parts of Africa, in addition to indigenous faiths such as polytheism, there were also Falashas jews, also the fact that the Muslim faith spread into North Africa by the mid-7th century AD -yet she is on an education task force? As the panel have highlighted, what is so disappointing is there are no shortages of fool's willing to front DeSantis' nonsense, and sell out their people, for their own personal self aggrandizement!

"I might be somewhere in africa worship in a tree:.. Let me repeat that. "I might be somewhere in Africa worshipping a tree. What's so bizarre about that statement to me is this. She is in a church speaking to a congregation. I am sure that every member in that church celebrates um.. Christmas. And correct me if i'm wrong. But one of the most important traditions is a christmas tree. Be it an artificial tree or a real tree. We will find that perfect place in our home to display our christmas tree. We adorn it with beautiful ornaments, lights, and present. On Christmas Day, we gather around the tree and pass out gifts, playing games, and some people sing.. But if it wasn't for slavery, we would still be in africa, worshiping a🌳... go figure.
