One of my favorite songs of Mr. Roland Burrell is "Give me your love". Bring tears to my eyes because the man sang his heart out. If the girl he was singing to did not give it to him that girl don't have a heart. 🥲

Wasn't picture on the wall originally done by Freddy Mckay at studio one in 1971 ?... Roland Burrell needs to set the record straight on this one.
@aminatanarfall1
@aminatanarfall1 3 жыл бұрын
Him and Freddy were very close friends. Mr Burrell wrote the song and gave it to MrMcKay who recorded it first and became a hit. Later on Mr Burrell recorded it too. Back in the days it was common practice to exchange or borrow songs among artists friends . Today it would turn into a copyrights issue nightmare and the artists know better not to do it.

The Original Song Of Johnny Dollar Is Called “Quiet Place” By Garnet Mimms & The Enchanters 1964. Maybe Roland Had An Experience In Life Where He Could Relate With This Song. Even So, It Would Not Have Taken Any Stripe Off Him If He Just Gave Credit Where It Is Deserved But It Does Not Look Good For Him Taking All The Credit. Teach Dem! Please Make Sure This Message Reach Him.

I was thinking the same thing. He should have even given Freddie McKay credit for Picture on the Wall and Creation Steppers for Stormy Night. Mr. Burell is a wicked singer but he should also give credit where it is due.

This man is a crook. He didn't write any of the songs he's claiming to have written. Stormy Night was written by Creation Steppers. And even his version states that it was"Adapted". This is a common ploy in reggae music when they have stolen other singers songs. It's a shame because he's actually a good singer, but stealing other people's songs and claiming them as your own is just not on.

I also wonder who's the original composer of 'Hanging On The Wall?' Is it Freddie McKay, whom many thought to be the original composer and vocalist of that song or is it Roland Burrell as being intimated in this interview? There needs to be clarification regarding this song. By the way, the Freddie McKay version is by far the more popular version.

I agree! There needs to be a clarification on this one. What he said in the video is very CLEAR. I have been listening to this song (as a little youth growing up in 🇯🇲 ) years before I know of Roland Burrrell, and it's always Freddie McKay I know of. So Teachdem, please do a follow up to clarify who wrote that tune. Bless!

The late great Freddy McKay originally sang Picture On The Wall at Studio One in 1971, he re-recorded the song again in 1977, Roland Burrell did his version in 1992 and even on that record label above Burrell's name it says Adapted in brackets.

Mystic, you need to listen the interview again. While Roland did not use the the words "I was the originator of Picture on the wall", he implied that he was. He said that he was at a venue and was looking at the posters outside, and the idea came to him. He started singing the song, and an artiste bredrin beg him the song. He said to the bredrin a build me a build di song, it nuh finish yet. Please go back and listen to the tape. Roland Burrell is not being factual

Seems like there's doubt about Roland being the composer of 'Stormy Night' as well. I'm seeing elsewhere where it is stated that it was written by Willie Stepper while others said that Eric Griffiths is the true composer. Willie Stepper is the vocalist and Eric Griffiths and Fred Locks did backing vocal on their version of the song. Is it that Roland is having some serious memory issue as it relates to the authorship of his three top songs?
