The piano is great but let's be honest: Dan Bingham and Mike Patrick could make the worst piano in the world still sound amazing!! Phenomenal talents, both of them! 🙂

Honestly, I would go see Bingers in concert just to hear him play the way people went to see Keith Jarrett, Chic Corea, Oscar Peterson etc. Seriously, the guy is special on dem keys 🔥🔥

I have one of these. The feel and touch is lovely and has a great balance when mixing sounds say piano and strings. The individual piano notes sound great but when certain chords are played the sound is synthetic and disappointing. Great speaker system. Makes a great Bluetooth speaker.

Nice noodling with these complex chords Daniel, being able to play like that must be good for the soul. Not keen on the EP sounds on it though. (Not that I'll ever be able to afford one) 😄

In that price range, I expect a touchscreen large enough to read sheet music off of. Also, being digital, it should have full access to Roland's ZenCore engine.

I wish you'd find a Rock keys player to supplement the plethora of supper club Jazz players you have on speed dial. It'd be nice to hear a keyboard demo done in a different style occasionally.

I mean, those guys are really good at what they do; but what they do doesn't really show off the instruments demoed as Rock/Pop platforms.

I am kinda split if i should choose this one or the gp-609 ? I kinda want the grand piano look but I have heard that the action in this LX model is better ? How would you guys compare the two of them, sonically , I can see that the GP model have wood soundboard does this model have that as well behind it or something ?

I have the LX708 but not the GP609. The LX708 doesn't have a soundboard, but has 8 speakers that give spatial audio. The action is pretty much the same on both, but slightly longer on the LX708, and has haptic feedback. If you want the best of both worlds though you can see if you can get the newer GP9, which looks to be a combination of both

Is it just me or is the Roland way out of tune (over 55 cents off). Maybe Bingham insisted to ward off magpies on his sweet licks! The man can play, no wonder Jack often drops him love bombs.

What I don’t get with this Roland piano, is that they put in all the effort to make it look like a real piano with the cabinet and yet they didn’t do anything to hide away all the knobs and display. Now it’s obviously a digital piano - okay… with an excellent built in speaker system.

@@Ben-ic1ve yes, I think you’re right. It’s more like a lot of stage pianos. I own the Yamaha CLP-785 where the knobs and display are hidden. You can connect an iPad if you want easier access to all the functionality. I think that’s a really clever way to maintain the realistic appearance of a real piano on the one hand and still offer the possibility to quickly access all functions on the other hand. A huge disadvantage is of course that you feel more or less obliged to spend an extra 1k on an iPad in addition to the 5k digital piano. But hey, Roland clearly has a different vision on their flag ship digital piano than Yamaha and that makes it easier for us to decide on what gear we really want to spend our precious money. Plus the Roland in polished black is €1500 cheaper than the CLP785 in polished black. 😃

@@luucdentoom6955 I see, I’ll be honest I’m not too versed with the higher end market. I do agree that the Yamaha does have a good look with the controls being on the left hand side. Currently I’m using a Yamaha MX88. One day hopefully I can afford something like the CLP-785 or the Lx708. As of now, being a university student hasn’t really given me the opportunity to allot a lot of money to an instrument :) How do you like the CLP, any gripes or regrets?

The Roland supernatural acoustic and electric piano sounds, are like Marmite. You either love them or do not love them. I do not. Their foray into modeling based piano sounds, in my opinion has not worked out well. Sure these are useful options to have, but not the kind of bread and butter piano sounds I want to have.
