Extremely helpful Ed! I’m ashamed to say it, but I’ve had my 2000 since 2018, and I’ve barely scratched the surface of its’ capabilities. I’ve caused so much frustration for myself during live performances because I’ve neglected the academic nature of a lot of the basics incorporated into this amazing gear that I should have taken the time to learn initially. These videos are beyond helpful, so thank you! I especially loved your tutorial on incorporating MainStage in the live rig. Awesome!

Thanks, Ed. I've had my RD-2000 since they first came out in 2017, and I've never known how to use Scenes. The manual, of course, was no help whatsoever (which is usual for Roland manuals). Even other KZfaq "tutorials" on the subject were no help at all. This will be a game-changer for me.

If I have transpose turned on during the writing process to program to the Tome buttons will that recall it quickly during a live performance? My reasoning is I play everything in C so I need to be able to quickly change between keys without downtime

Hi Ed. If I wanted to completely remove any patches in a specific program or scene bank, can we do that or is it just always overwritten?

It would be really useful if you would make a firmware update to expose 0-9 buttons through MIDI. It's a stage piano after all, buttons are useful. I understand that for some functionalities you sell specific equipment, but those buttons are close to the keyboard. No additional equipment can get any closer to my fingers. Thanks for all these tutorials.

So scenes are shortcuts to programs ?

OK I've had the RD2000 for a few weeks and now trying to set up some useful performances for stage use. My previous stage piano (Kurzweil Artis) had 10 "favourite" buttons right at the front for this. Am I to understand that my only option with the RD2000 is to either use "performances" which involves holding down the shift key while pushing another button (while you're playing a solo on your top keyboard??) - or using "Scenes" where the red LED of the scene you've selected flashes continuously under your nose?.. oh and any notes you're holding down with the sustain pedal immediately cut off? Please someone tell me I'm overlooking something simple before I ditch this badly designed style-over-content keyboard for good.....

Using the shift key is just to jump to a specific program (for example to go from program 1 to 14). For live performance you can either use programs and use a pedal to quickly switch to the next one, or do the same thing with scenes. As for the sound cutting off, there is the "tone remain" (aka seamless sound transition) feature which lets you hold the sound with the sustain pedal while switching to the next program/scene (either by pressing a button or with a pedal). Hope this helps.

@@SonOfInfernum You can also send patch change info to the RD-2000 via MIDI IE: ForeScore on an Ipad or Camelot or Gig Performer, etc.

is it saving the effects you used to the program as well?

@@sitsedebacker2482 could you let us know if it saves the effect we used in the program as well, please?
@sitsedebacker2482
@sitsedebacker2482 5 жыл бұрын
@@renesbbwi It saves the assigned effects as well. For instance: When I add more reverb, or change the low-mid-or high frequencies (or change the sound), I can easily rewrite the previous "Scene", or assign it to another/new slot. So creating a "scene" means you're actually taking a screenshot of the sound you've created. You can easily take 4 instruments, change it up to your taste and then put it into a "scene slot". Comes in very handy, while doing live shows! Just press a few buttons, and you have your settings right :) Hope I explained the thing you asked for!

@@sitsedebacker2482 Could you please clarify if after I have initially saved a program to a scene and I later go back to the program and edit it eg adding more layers or adding FX and saving it under the same name, will these new edits automatically appear in the scene I originally saved the program to? if not, can I delete the original program from the scene and then save the new edited one to the orginal scene? thank you!

I don't get it... I bought the RD2000 and there's no easy way to mark your favorites? I need to duplicate the patches? What the hell is wrong with you guys? I'm really angry at this.
