In my SUBJECTIVE OPINION, the Korg and Roland both sound great. The Nord just didn't seem up to par with the Korg and Roland. But let's face it, if you're playing live, customers won't know the difference, nor will they care. I know, I know, I know. It's about how it sounds to YOU.

hmm they should all make one perfect keyboard, together! personally after listening to that i'm thinking Korg SV1. Korgmania is happening at my fav music shop so I could get one for 2300 Australian, but as an amateur can I justify it? They all have high points, I dont know..
@abdielvelazquez7737 жыл бұрын
Can't go wrong with neither of those. So far I got the RD 2000, the Krog Kronos 2 Platinum and a Fantom X7. Lookin' to that Nord.

Korg Grandstage all the way...though it does have it's flaws. I'd like to see the same exact instrument with only the best grand piano sounds from the last 300 years. No bullshit effects for 80's hair band music.

I think I will always find the sound of the Nord to be weak and sterile. But I admit fully this is very subjective.

RD 2000. I own one and I've owned Nord Piano and. Nord Stage 2. The Nord is let down by the poor Fatar keybed and always feels like your triggering a sample and the keybed escapement is simply poor. Roland have cracked the physics of how a piano keyboard works. The RD2000 cam make an amateur of even a decent keyboard player because playing piano takes lots of skill and specialist technique. Every subtle nuance (not to mention unlimited polyphony) is heard on an RD200. It's the closest you'll get to the real deal. Furthermore, I'm not sure what the pint is here on even trying to play an organ on a weighted keyboard. Just go try the Roland RD200 for yourself. If you can't afford one, track down the Roland RD800. Can't afford that? Go for the Roland FP90. Can't afford that? Then the FP30 offers 3 fantastic sounding and very playable pianos. I bought one if this as well because I was that impressed. All brilliant.

My personal opinion is that..... Most of us play piano at home and to my ears, the Nord piano sounds like the quintessential upright piano that you play at home. The Roland sounds like a piano that you play in the studio.... And the Grand stage sounds like it was in a big Hall from the get-go they are three awesome boards but remember three things period. Nord's are expensive and way overpriced for what you get Korg products have about a 10-year shelf life and everybody forgets about them afterwards... Roland makes products that have their own character and you can use them 20 years or more... For example people are still lugging around D 50 and V synth .x8 fantoms still hold up today

I’m not joking when I say this, but I got all 3 of them (korg grand stage, Roland 2000 rd, nord stage 3) and they are all great boards. That’s why I had to have all three. But when it come to flat out piano, Korg is my go to board first. I can do either one for piano but I always gravitate to the KGS.

@paulmapp83066 жыл бұрын
really? I tried all 3 extensively and the Roland had by far the best keybed IMO.
@theclaverman5 жыл бұрын
Not at all. I own both Nord Stage 3 and the Roland RD2000, and while the action is better on RD2000(at least for acoustic piano) I personally think that Nord totally blows the RD2000 out of the water when it comes to pianosounds (like not on the same planet). And when it comes to the upright pianos it`s almost embarrassing how much better they sounds on the Nord. But... what I really like better on the RD is: Most of the DX-sounds is better. Strings, horns and bass is generally much better on RD. So for me as a gigging musician, I use both. But If I had to choose only one of them I would go for the Nord.

@geoffk7777 жыл бұрын
You really can't decide from a comparison like this. First, action and response are critical, and you can't feel that except in person. Second, Roland has almost 100 pianos to choose from, and Nord and Korg have many as well. So the default piano is just a start. Lastly, polyphony and built in sounds vary widely. The Nord has only 30 note polyphone (not enough) and holds only a few pianos at a time. The Roland has unlimited polyphony and holds over a hundred different pianos. So which is better?--try them and decide for yourself..
@AlexanderNagel7 жыл бұрын
Nord Stage 3's piano section has got 120 voice polyphony.

I have the Kronos 2 88 and the Nord Stage 3. I actually don't like the piano in the Korg. Recognised it immediately in the Grandstage in this video :)
@geoffk7777 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I actually have an RD-2000. The Nord pianos are very nice, but I like the Roland ones personally, and I prefer the action to the one in the Nord. And I like having lots of different pianos available in memory. But there are lots of Nord fans out there and they know what they like :) My newest Korg is a Triton, so I can't really judge Korg's recent pianos. I've heard good comments on the Grandstage, but it lacks string resonance and seems to have very limited adjustability of the presets. Anyway, I'm happy with the RD-2000.
@colbalt957 жыл бұрын
geoffk777 the new Roland board is nice but it lacks depth and body in all the stairs sounds even MKS ones. Idk it doesn't give you that aggressiveness that is needed at times
@geoffk7777 жыл бұрын
I guess to each his own. I find the RD-2000 sounds nicely deep and punchy. It's also a great MIDI controller with a superb keyboard action too, so it's easy to pull up Keyscape or something else and use it if I don't like the RD-2000 internal sounds (which rarely happens). However, if you don't like the sounds yourself, than I'd recommend not buying one :)

korg and roland showing what they have best on pianos, but nord stage 3 isn't the best nord for piano. Nord piano 3 should be taken on this test. nord stage 3 don't even have a good piano keybed.

@@torbenanschau6641 It is true that the Nord Stage 3 and Nord Piano 3(and 4) share the exact same sounds, the keybed on the nord stage 3 isn't the same as on Nord Piano. Nord Piano 4 has the best keybed i`ve ever played on an stagepiano. (and I say that as an owner of Nord Stage 3).

Maybe the sounds of the Nord are a bit better than Korg specially in E-Pianos en Organ and definitely it has much more editing options... BUT THE KEY ACTION OF THE KORG IT IS MUCH BETTER ...and also the Roland. I think that the sounds of Roland keyboard are nor so good. FOR ME GRANDSTAGE IS THE BEST ONE... Nord does not respond like a real piano and the korg it does...AND IT IS 1000 DOLLARS LESS... Nord it is overpriced

Although I use digital pianos I have to say that there will never be such a Stage Piano that would have perfect piano sound. It is impossible to achive what gives you real acoustic instrument.
@MonstaMunch1017 жыл бұрын
Two problems with that pretentious line I hear repeated over and over; One is that there is no such thing as "perfect piano sound", all pianos sound a bit different and perfection is objective. The second problem is that by the time the sound has been recorded and is being replayed through speakers, plenty of digital pianos CAN achieve exactly the same sound, because that's exactly how they are sampled..... If you think a synth can't recreate a recorded sound then you haven't understood how technology works.
@brmh16674 жыл бұрын
Not a fair comparison IMO. Too much Nord and Korg. Not enough Roland.

So design and aesthetics is also a key component or plays a vital role when deciding on a keyboard and thus by far, the Nord with its Red color and classic buttons and knobs and craftsmanship easily blows away all other manufacturers.No point having a great action and sounding keyboard if it looks like Quasimodo right?,but in Nords case it has it all like a top model.I would say the Korg next.Now yamaha has the CP73 and 88 but the action on the 73 is crap and they could have offered a white or different colors at least.Black is boring
@musikone17805 жыл бұрын
You have no idea what you are talking about as far as keybeds. nord buys off the shelf cheap azz "fatar" keybeds for ALL their models.
@perfektpitch5 жыл бұрын
The cheap Nord Keyboard action ruins it for a lot of musicians. Personally, the Nord can't compete with the RD 2000.
