The fact thing both cost less money than a laptop and takes half the space is not computing in my mind... just... how?! Beautiful stuff. This means a lot for a broke musician like me who want to create electronic soundscapes in real time and perform electronic songs with one simple piece of hardware that doesn't cost the price of a car. Next paycheck...!!!

@@LegendPhase Translation: don't expect to be creating anything that sounds remotely close to what you hear in this video. Prepare to not know what the fuck you are doing and don't expect to do much with S1 as a stand alone synth. That being said I love my s1 and I think you should buy it. Just giving you realistic expectations. I think a good DAW and midi Keyboard might be more what your looking for

Shit that sounded a little harsh lol my bad. I don't really know your level of skill with a synth and I'm assuming a lot. But its like learning a new discipline from scratch if you don't have experience. Totally worth learning though its super fun. I'm just kind of giving you my personal journey lol. Fun one tho

Maybe try the ol cassette tape trick. I got the idea from synth guy (I think) then I added a voltage regulator to it (made for slowing down a router speed) but it works great on cassette tape as well. You’d think it would work on a digital recorder as well? Nope, just an analog cassette machine. I guess digital really is a whole different ballgame! Just a thought, in my case if it didn’t work, I’m a woodworker so I’d just got to my shop and route something! Lol

Well done! Is that tune the S-1 only on a single track or several? I think you’ve done it all on the S-1 and really mastered the device. I’m still discovering mine as I’ve only had it for a couple weeks but I’m getting there. This little thing is truly amazing for its size and price.

Can i ask for a short explanation of how you got sound from the USB Audio? I Have Ableton and tried to figure this out with no luck. My only option was to plug a headphone into a mixer to achieve this.

You need to connect the usb port to your computer, then go to your ableton I/O settings and select Roland S1 as your audio interface

Im getting one I. Two weeks ...how many bars can you make your patterns?

It can go up to 64 steps but I always sequence my synths using my DAW (mainly Ableton)

I just got mine last week, I expected it might go up to double that. I would have liked 8 bars of loop potential since I mostly work with melodic house progressions, and the chords go over 2 bars each. Brilliant, powerhouse of a synth though, and like you say - will soon be just feeding it through Ableton anyway, so doesn't matter too much! Standalone 4 bars is enough for idea generation I guess. Brilliant box! Cool vibes in your track 😁😎

Is your S1 playing 2 different sequences at once or did you pre-record the background track separately and play over this? Just got one of these, lot of fun, lots to learn with it.
