Here's a demo on Roland's super portable keyboard GO:KEYS 61-key which I've been using on the fly for rehearsals and shows. It's a sweet little keyboard that can boost your creative process. Let's dive in and explore some of its patches.

Mine should be delivered tomorrow; I'm eagerly awaiting playing it, especially when I get the opportunity to busk. I've done well with an autoharp previously, but they're a temperamental beast in various weathers, and replacing broken strings is tedious. This opens up so many doors. I'm getting lost in the melodious tones you're creating as I type this; thanks for sharing your experience. Makes me all the more eager for tomorrow. Edited to add: that cheeky smile of having fun at 8:27 was infectious.

Wonderful demo thx. To recall that that back in the early 80’s, when I was a kid playing in various bands as a keyboardist, I would have needed to pay thousands to even approach having these sounds, and would have needed to lug tons of heavy gear… my God. It is amazing that it all can be had for this price, and in one keyboard with recording ability. How far things have come, indeed.

Those are some of the best built-in sounds I've heard from an electric piano at such a low price. The pop organ and synths are great. I don't see any drawbacks. Thanks for this review. Some keyboards program the bass to be monophonic, it’s a synthesizer approach, and you can change them to play polyphonically, unfortunately not in this keyboard

Hi there, great video! I have a question: Is it possible to split the keyboard on this one and send the splits to two different outputs/amps? Need to send the first two (lower) octaves to a bass amp and the rest to a leslie cabinet. Or what (possibly chap but good) keyboard would you recommend for doing so? I basically only need some vintage sounds like a convincing electric piano (Wurlitzer etc.) and some bass guitar replacement sounds (doesn't have to sound like a bass guitar but has to replace the bass in a band situation). Also it would be great if it was not too big (full size keys though) and a stand alone solution to simply put on top of my analogue organ when playing live. Your help is very much appreciated!! Thanks!! 🙂
@LeonThomasian

I no longer have the keyboard, but if I remember correctly this keyboard didn't actually have a dedicated audio output jack. The only way to record or send the output to any source is the 1/8" headphone jack.

I ended up buying the Go:Piano for some reasons, I already own my main one, but I needed some composition tool and this video helped me re evaluate these Roland products. Btw, your improvisation is great, especially at that point; it has some vibes I really like, I.e. some awesome JRPG style compositions and a little bit of dreamy prog melodies a la Persephone; as well as some of the most sweet Giovanni Allevi’s intricate ramps up/down. That’s just my soft spot and your playing is clean and relaxed. Please create a small video song with that theme! I posted a few idiotic piano covers on my other channel I’ll link below if you’d like to follow to keep in contact. ;)

@LeonThomasian 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Angelo, I'm curious, do you have the keyboard hooked to the computer? If so, it sounds like there's some sustain pedal MIDI CC lagging through your DAW which shouldn't happen. When I play it on the keyboard directly, the strings/pads don't sustain when I lift my hands (unless I press the pedal and hold).

Ok I'm going to say it. The Roland Go: Keys sounds blow the Casio CT-S 1000V/500 into the weeds, as well as the Yamaha competition as this price point. These sounds are smooth and nicely EQed. I've watched many videos on the Casios and to me they sound harsh and overly bright whereas this instrument sounds just about professional. That's why it's a great pity it doesn't come with 1/4 inch L/R line outs. Lets see a V2 soon please with that issue addressed and for goodness sakes bin the very very prone to fail USB micro jack in favour of USB B.
