Muguruza was clutch in this match. She played very well. When she plays like this she's very difficult to beat. My only problem with her is how inconsistent she can be and loose matches she has no business losing.

Muguruza mental pressure loss didn't recover from Kenin AO and the downfall from there to her retirement.. she's the only one that beaten the William sisters in the finals......

I love my girl, Garbine. She lost only one lousy set, and I say lousy because it was in her first round or first match. Congrats to my girl and I am so sad she had to or chose to retire. She didn't win many tournaments, sad, but I am happy enough she won two majors and an WTA Finals. I will miss Garbine and Anett Kontaveit dearly.

Serena’s mental block at both the Australian open final and this one was real. That dumb loss to Vinci in 2015 definitely took a toll.

In that AO final, she kept coming to the net and couldn't deal with Kerber's passing shots or even the short balls she was giving. Serena looked clueless at the net that day.

Serena was suffering from an abdominal injury in the second week of this tournament and had difficulties serving. She was also past her prime here and had to deal with awful scheduling due to weather conditions while Garbine lucked out.

No. Serena won in 2012 and not Sharapova. Sharapova only won one RG and that was in 2014.
