Very underrated performance from Djokovic on clay. Everyone always brings up his matches against Nadal in 2013/2015/2021 or the SF against Alcaraz but this final is easily in the top-10 of his best clay matches ever. The stakes were so high for him. - Be the only man to complete the triple career grand slam - Take the lead of the slam race for the first time ever - Be world number #1 again So in a nutshell this match burried the GOAT debate once and for all. He was already the GOAT before RG2023 for most tennis fans (because he already holds most other important records) but the debate ended for good after this Roland. Anything he did later (Wimbledon final, Cincinnati, US Open, ATP Finals) was bonus. And Ruud was no joke on the other side of the net. Look how easily he dismantled Rune in Quarter and Zverev in Semi. He absolutely destroyed them. Bagelling Zverev like this shows how in form he was. He is already a solid top-5 on clay but in this tournament he was playing the best tennis of his life, much better than in RG2022. To beat him in straight-set like this in such an important final shows how strong Djokovic was. His level in the tie-break, first games of the 2nd set and last 3 games of the match was amazing!!

@@lukerne9260 Ruud won 65% of his 2nd serve points in this match, that's a phenomenal stat, last year against Novak nobody had that stat better than Ruud. If you have a really a poor knowledge about tennis, just stay quiet, read what smarter pople write, and learn.

This is the match where Novak became the undisputed GOAT (although many knew he was already there given his complete tennis resume). When Sampras surpassed Laver in the number of Grand Slams, the world annointed him the GOAT. When Federer passed Sampras, the world annointed him the GOAT. It is no different now that Djokovic has surpassed Nadal. Grand Slams are the ultimate measure of winning in tennis and no man has more of them than Novak Djokovic.

Agree con that. I appreciate the respect you showed for Sampras and else . In my view, Borg would had been the goat after Novak. He stop playing at the age of 25, but officially retired at 26. Imagine, he had so many years ahead of him.

That is certainly one way of defining who the goat is. For me, personally, there are a lot of other metrics that are relevant for being the goat or not. Therefore, for me it will always ne Federer, but ofcourse Djokovic is the far more successfull player.

En ce moment la chaine Roland-Garros sort beaucoup de match très célèbre. Aujourd'hui c'est peut-être pas la plus grande affiche mais c'est un match qui rentre dans l'histoire . Remarquons que Casper Ruud a très bien joué surtout au début mais Djokovic a beaucoup d'expérience il sait gérer ses genres de match il a une telle emprise mentale que son adversaire ne peut presque rien faire ou en tout cas pas tenir sur la durée 😁👏👍 Merci de l'avoir posté c'est merveilleux pour ce jour de l'an 2024 ❤
