BRAVO!!!! Verismo is Villazon's element or at least it was. I don't see a reason for the bad coments here. Lately Villazon offers many reasons for critical comments but for sure not in this case. Let's be fair, where is the tenor around who could have sung it better at that time? or today? I am sure not even Villazon could repeat nowadays the same quality. I have written many critical coments on other Villazon's renditions but I must say, this was excelent!!!

@dxhtz you are right with your observation but bear in mind that this is Verismo and not Bel Canto. At least Villazon doesn't abuse this flaw as much as Cura does. In this case emotions and expressivity is what counts. Villazon sings this aria in an extraordinary and very convincing manner.

Yes. It's a manerism that a lot of singers have, like Leo Nucci, for example. Vocally in this video he is 9.5 over 10. Nobody, including Corelli or Del monaco or Placido is perfect, especially Placido. It's the overall performance what it's important.

I caught it at the last part.... I thought it's just my ear, but no, he sang it rightly the high Bflat at tooooSSSSSS.... but when he slide down a bit to ...caaaaaaa! which should be a G, I checked out with my digital tuner, it's becoming G#. That's why it's kinda sound weird in my ears! and also at SEUI TU...it should be F, he did it with F#.

muy bien! todos los cantantes cometen errores y cuando son jovenes, pues aun mas! recordemos que Caruso fue operado de nodulos en la garganta, Pavarotti tuvo uno y lo supero mediante silencio total por 6 meses; y Domingo siendo muy joven canto Lohengrin y por poco se arruina la voz...saludos de un amante de la opera en mexico!

'cinta' is ok..just..you need to do it to warm up the E vowel anyway,like everyone 'tu'..begins a minor 6th down, sort of adds a semi-tonebelow before arriving on note.. 'Tosca'=the tiniest major 7th..(!!!) 'L'arte' start a minor 7th down, conveniently fitting with the chord..(HMMM!?!?)

'Le diverse'=minor 7th.. 'ma'=about a 5th.. etc. learn to sing a note directly..like you did it for the first note.. YOURE GOING TO BE OK! (everybody stop being mean) and get an entourage to take care of you properly..This was avoidable.
