Congratulations Uptick. Don’t listen to vintage OCD negativity. It’s a fine looking watch you’ll enjoy. Now that I’ve finally sold my GP I think I’ll finally jump back into the Rolex brand- nothing hyped, will either be a 39mm Explorer or DateJust 41 with fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet. Great pick, that 16760! I know how long you've been lusting after a GMT Master, so it's great you cold make good on it. My personal preference would be full tritium dial / hands, but as long as you paid the right price, there's no issue in having serviced parts. As you say, it makes the watch more functional. As for the polishing, sure, this watch got polished presumably at the same time it got its dial / hands swapped, but it's been done very professionally. I don't think it has lost too much metal, otherwise the end of the spring bars would be sticking out of the lugs holes. PS1: isn't it ironical that this "Fat Lady" is 13mm thick (vs. 12.4mm for the 16710) for a watch made almost 40 years ago vs. the unseemly thick Tudor GMT's? I don't buy into the argument that the BB GMT's / Pro's are so thick because of their 200m water resistance. There are plenty of dive watches with similar or superior water resistance which are much, much slimmer than the BB's. Even accounting for an extra hand, there's no reason why they should be more than 13.5mm thick (other than Tudor being too lazy to produce a thinner GMT movement). PS2:if you're going to trim the collection, ditch the BB GMT Master in steel (redundant with this 16760) and keep its two tone sibling.

Beautiful piece and great pickup! Amazing how Rolex was able to shave the thickness down to 12mm almost 3 decades ago... I myself have a 2007 year 16710 SEL and managed to fit an Explorer 39 clasp to it. Makes me feel that I am wearing a reissue watch by Rolex 😁

Very nice watch congratulations! Personally I would only buy as original as possible with box and cert. I have a 1680, 16750 and 16610 without box and cert but later on I bought a 16760 and 16610LV full sets. The full sets really feel more ’personal’ and will always be harder to part with.

Nothing wrong at all buying a vintage or neo vintage Rolex with service parts. Just as long as you pay accordingly. If you want a complete unpolished full set watch then be prepared to pay top top dollar. So if you can enjoy a vintage reference for 3/4 of the price with real Rolex replacement parts, there's nothing wrong with that.

I have a 2005 coke with that exact dial configuration. I’m scared that if I sent it in for service that Rolex would maybe replace the dial. The sticks are a bit rarer and cool when originally to the watch I think. You have a great example there though!

big fan of the 16760 fat lady as there are a ton of unique vintage nuances within that reference. Does your date wheel have open 6's and 9's? If so, then it's definitely a 16760. I wonder if that was changed out in addition to the bezel during the last service @uptick
