In this video I compare three Rolex Homage Watches from 3 very different price tiers. The Pagani GMT at EUR 80, the Steinhart Ocean One 39 at EUR 600 and the Tudor Black Bay 58 at EUR 3,500. Tudor is a sister of Rolex and doesn’t have a date and in house movement and is 3x the price. They really shouldn’t be in the same group for comparison. The steinhart for the value prop is a hands down winner.

Steinhart are unbelievable vfm, even if you just compare it to other watches with sw200 / eta2824 movements

very interesting to see these three watches side by side. I think they all offer great value for money. Personally I’d go for a Steinhart. The Pagani is a fine watch too and the Tudor is simply stunning.

Nice review, and quite helpful. You are higher on the Steinhart clasp than several other reviewers, who feel at that price point a push button release would be more comfortable and more effective. I tend to agree. Also, you can only get the open case back with the double green premium, which also mandates the sunburst dial. I personally prefer the matte black dial, but you can't get it with the open case back. A bit rigid in providing customer options, don't you think?

I own an 116610 yet truly loved my Steinhart and was blown away by it's quality and 2 seconds per day +/- time keeping. Truly unbeatable dive watches for under 1000 dollars

@@WonderofWatches my Ocean 44 performance was the same in 3 degrees to 40 degrees Celsius conditions. The macro tolerances for fitment was above the price point too. Enjoy it mate 👍

Excellent review! Steinhart is fantastic value, although I had to send mine back twice. Once because it was running increasingly slow (-40 spd) and next time, because the bezel broke and started rotating both ways with a gritty/tough feel. Steinhart customer support was fantastic and sent me a new watch since they aren't able to repair bezels. Steinhart is built pretty well for the price, although the bezel does not inspire confidence in me any more. The Tudor bracelet and finishing is on another level however. Is it worth 6-7 times as much? Probably not. I would be happy to pay 3-4 times for it as compared to Steinhart, the test is just the brand name.

I have 2 Paganis and was kind of laughing at it going up against the Tudor and Steinhart. For the money though you can't beat a Pagani with Sapphire crystal, bracelet with screws, screw down crown while both of mine have a tried and tested Seiko movement. I love the Tudor (probably my favourite watch though I don't own one - still a bit out of my league). In terms of out and out value for money versus quality I think the Steinhart takes it.

Yeah couldn’t agree more, the price to performance ratio of the Steinhart is unreal. I guess I’m trying to give a balanced view of all 3 watches, and the Pagani offers a lot for the money but IMO, is still worth putting that €80 towards a Steinhart.

The tudor is an absolute killer in terms of looks and heritage! I have a GMT Pagani and love what it offers in terms of value. I've never really been interested in Steinhart, I just dont know why.

Totally agree in the Tudor, the Pagani offers a lot for the money alright, I never realised until this evening that the clasp has a 5mm easy link extension. I wasn’t sold on the Steinhart either but then they brought out the “hulk” and a friend of mine kept banging on about the quality of the brand. Finally, I pulled the trigger and it really is very impressive. It’s not a Tudor or a Rolex though and that was really the point I wanted to make with this video. Even though the Tudor is 5 times as expensive, it just does everything better than the Steinhart, and you would expect that.

Great video... I was a bit underwhelmed by the Tudor when I tried it. Looking towards a Steinhart before Christmas if all goes to plan. I think the Pagani is great value for money and will definitely be future purchase. 😊

@@WonderofWatchesI fully agree in terms of the luxury market and if you compare the Tudor with Rolex. Their gold models are amazing bang for buck and I don't currently own a gold wristwatch so when I eventually do it, Tudor will be the one.

No I haven't, my only hands on experience with San Martin is a Seiko 6105 homage that I bought and I am very impressed with it.

@@WonderofWatches I got one myself and I'm suprised how much of a watch you get for the money. There is a space for improvement ( not major complains just a few rather subjective things) but still it's a great watch. And apart from borrowed ( stolen) design my after 4 days is -0,3 sec/day what makes its homageing even more convincing :)

@@WonderofWatches Funny thing, my Smiths Everest that is mimicing other Rolex is 0,2 sec/day ( Myiota 9036 movt). That's makeing homages the right way - copying not only the design but also precision. Of course I know that's a luck and nor Seiko neither Myiota can't compare to the real deal but still that's a way above what you would expect from the budget movements.

Hey mate, how feels the quallity on Steinhart against Tudor when we have that huge price difference? I will buy 39mm ocean one all black tomorrow and im wondering how it is compared to "luxury" watch which is many many times more expensive watch? Cheers.

The Steinhart is fantastic, I particularly love the double green version. It’s superb quality for the price. The Tudor trumps in though in nearly every department, from the lume to the crown and the bezel. It’s also finished to a higher standard than the Steinhart. But is it worth almost 3k more? I’m not sure 🤔

@@WonderofWatches That was my thoughts. Well i purchase Ocean One 39 Black ceramic today and im waiting it now :) it will be my first watch with swiss automatic movement, also most expensive ones that i had. I dont have expectations so i hope on "wow" effect when i open the box :)

Steinhart is a high quality watch for a reasonable price. The Tudor is just a high end watch with a high end price.

Comparing Sterinhart to Pagani is like comparing steak and lobster to macaroni and cheese n hot dogs. I have 2 pagani and dont wear them. They have sharp edges, ill fitting bracelets, and on and on. I have 6 Steinharts and the quality is outstanding, Im never disappointed. The build quality is fantastic, and at 5 times or more the price of the pagani, they are well worth it, and one of the highest respected names in their field. You just cannot go wrong. Dont rush into a pagani just because you have $100 ready to spend, wait till its $500 or more, you will not regret getting a steinhart. Mr Steinhart himself is also available on social media and will answer you personally if need be. Its just a great company....

The only video so far I’ve seen (after a quick search) that mentions a visible not-so-good quality of the crystal of the Pagani. Brings to mind, that, different crystals are possible…

The coke and pepsi Pagani has a aluminum bezel, only the Black and Batman versions have ceramic bezels

true that, red colour ceramic bezel is very complicated to make. thats why black and blue is really ceramic and other colours are not - aluminium! :)

Steinhardt actually came out with their version of the "Hulk" before Rolex. So, who's copying who? Rolex came out with their "Hulk" too soon after Steinhart to have copied it. It, therefore, appears to be a coincidence that they both came out with a bulk version.

Pagani and other mass produced chinese watches are cute watches your buy for the looks. Specs are good but detail is poor and they lack QC, so they are hit and miss in terms of quality, and I highly doubt they are actual diving watches. The steinhart is a serious homage that is great value for someone who cant or isnt willing to shelve out many thousands for an actual Sub.

The pagani gmt pepsi doesn't have a ceramic bezel.its aluminum.the batman and the black version of pagani gmt has ceramic bezel.

That's actually a surprisingly reasonable comparison. I own a few Steinharts myself and am pretty impressed with the brand. Inquired about a black BB58 the other day at an AD, but it seems it's going in the direction of Rolex when it comes to availability. Waiting list (which was closed), "try again next summer", etc... :D One minor point about the Steinhart's movement: Pretty sure that's a Sellita in there, at least according to the Steinhart website which only lists the SW200 for this model. Not that it makes much of a difference, mind you.

@@WonderofWatches If you care about this sort of thing, it's easily verified thanks to the see-through caseback. There's a maker's mark towards the edge of the movement, slightly above the balance wheel. :)

There are some nice comparisons between ETA 2824 and Selita SW200 on the various watch forums. I can not recall exactly where I've had read that Sellita actually solved the little troubling ETA 2824 had - when often handwind it broke somehow. Secondly I found some (unverified) info about improved movement resistance with Sellita. If not wrong SW is one jewel more, although can't really explain any of possible comparable advantage...my SW200 in O1 39mm runs +/- 3 sec from the box for 6th month now...

Yeah, I reflected in that, and it’s not really a homage. It’s a heritage model that at one point used Rolex cases and crowns

A rather pointless & bias review... obviously you get what you pay for. Better to review the watches on value for money. I was tempted to buy the new Tudor Black Bay 58 'Navy Blue' especially with it's heritage. But I seeing it in person, found rather underwhelming. Ended up buying the Gnomon Steinhart 'Marine Blue' A homage to this 1970's Tudor... which looks & feels amazing. And at £340 great vaue.

Lol! It’s a “Haquin “ and I’ll bet they come from the very same factory. Nothing lines up. I’ll soon see how much watch I got for $70.00 USD. I just bought a STEINHART Ocean 39 Vintage GMT. It is genuinely worth 10 times as much. A really fine watch and my 1st high beat watch! Great channel you have!

Well that’s one way to describe them, I’ve described them as that myself in the past. The bb58, though, is definitely a homage or reimagining of the Rolex 6538 from the 60’s

@@WonderofWatches bb58 is a nod to Tudor from 1958 not Rolex from 60s , hence the name . The reason why these watches look similar, as you no doubt know in early years , they shared parts . Be that cases , crowns , bracelets . However to put tudor in the same bracket as pagani or steinhardt does them a great disservice

What I was really trying to do was show, in as balanced a way as possible, that there is a chasm gap in quality between the Tudor and the other two pieces. I may have framed it slightly incorrectly by referring to Tudor as a homage. But to me there is no comparison between Tudor and Steinhart for example. I hope I got that across in the presentation.

I'm a working class guy who has some nice watches , but I also own less expensive and nice watches like bulovas MWC military pieces . Just felt comparisons a bit unfair but that's just my opinion . Should all have bracelets not good and where was the price shown on all of them at the end. Yes you are biased for your Tudor of course! The Steinhart for the price with the ETA movement cmon man! We know the Tudor is a better watch but it is also quadruple the price of a Steinhart!!!
