I love my flip axles. I shim against the truck, as I’ve had one washer get caught in a clip and jam it, til I babied and lubed it open. For the US, flips are usually 7mm bearing, not the US 8mm, but you can get 1mm sleeves to use your usual US bearing setup. And bonus: NO crossthreading ever!

Yes 7mm has been the standard forever. 8mm were never really available till recently due to innacurate tolerances of 8mm. Yes, against the truck is best and safest.

Seems nice but I just can't think why in these modren days I would allow to have play on my wheels. I just shortened my axles flat with the bearings...drilled a 4,5 mm hole and treathed the hole to 5 mm treahds.. Now I just put my wheels on ( whit bearing spacers tie it all up and no play and spins like never before.. Just every now and than I loosen the screws a bit to spin the bearing to chanche the pressure point.( there is allways only pressure on the bottom of the inner bearing case...) had my bearings( SKF ) machine bearings 7 mm for 12 jears now...still spinning as new.

be interested to see a pic of what you did. A little bit of play is fine in my opinion. Thanks for your comments.

@@Thequadchannel can't make pictures or a movie right now. But you will have to have acces to a laté or know someone who has one. And take your trunks of the plate. Its simple. Just build up jour wheels (bearing, spacer, bearing) Put them on tbe axle and make á mark to where the outer bearing meets the axle. Than just saw the axle like 1/2 mm schorter than the mark.. Then yust put the axle on a laté ond drill a 4.5 mm hole about 1 1/2 cm in the axle.. After that yust tread the inside with 5 mm tread... Thats all. Now if you put the wheel on again you can jst tie everything up with a 5 mm bolt to your choice.. I use inside hex bolts 1 cm long..with a flenge that is the diameter of the innertube off the bearing.. Sinds you cut the axle 1/2 mm shorter this will provide to tighten it real good. You can use a drop off tread- lock but not needed. Believe me once you skate on wheels that are spinning like crazy without any play...you will never want anything else.

@@robpracht9303 thanks, but I think I'll just stick with Clip Axles.

I have the clip/flip axles for a couple of years now. Completely unsafe/garbage!!! While skating tonight, I experienced about my 10th incidence now of one of the clips flipping open while skating and having a wheel come flying off!!! Luckily, I have never faceplanted yet. But tonight I did come close, so I'm finally trashing these clip/flip axles and going back to the threaded axles.

sorry to hear that. In over 40 years of skating on both track and road I have never had a single one open on me.

@@Thequadchannel When I get grooving on my quads, there are many times that I am riding on the sides of my wheels. I believe that is the contributing factor as to why sometimes the clip flips open and allows the wheel to fly off. When it happened the other night, the guy who (owns the roller skating business) that sold me these clip axles, was skating behind me and saw it happen. He wants to charge me full price for a new set of trucks (to switch back to threaded axles). I am going to get some threaded axles, find a vise, push out the clip axles (from the trucks that I have currently) and install some threaded axles myself.
