He was such an inspiration to me recently as a stage performer- nearly every amateur musical theatre show I have done I have been in fight scene or falling down "drunk" part, or been slapped by another cast member(The King And I for instance as the King's flunky), had props shoved in my face, and I have been injured almost every time. But that is because I have been asked to do my own stunts on stage and accepted the challenge as Michael Crawford would have done the exact same thing and I think of how much he made me laugh as a kid. And I know the risks and just think "let's do this."

Still vividly and fondly remember these episodes! I was a newly arrived immigrant in England in the late 1970's and used to watch Frank episode after epidode. The joy these programs used to give me those days is beyond explaining. Back in India and far away from the UK i still go back to those days one in a while .... thanks to you tube and BBC world wide of course!! Cheers, Kris Kandath

Without a stunt-man and trick camera-work this is TOTAL class. Crawford also has the lead in Phantom of the Opera in London for many years and was also a top-rate middle-distance runner, with a personal best of 4 mins 2 secs for the mile ....... a VERY talented man, who sadly was well into his adult-life when he discovered who his father was.

I fell in love with the show on You Tube and bought an all-region DVD player so I could buy the entire series on DVD. Michael Crawford is an absolutely brilliant comedian - a real genius. It's not just his physical ability (holy cow, the stunts he does are incredible - I can not believe he actually went under that truck), but everything else as well. He literally inhabits the character of Frank Spencer to the point where you can't find any trace of Michael there at all.

That rolling skate rink is at Picketts Lock in Edmonton and they used clips that were a few miles apart and stitched together brilliantly. The spiral staircase that he skated down at Edmonton Green is no longer there. Although I lived there at the time of shooting, I did not recognize it until a work colleague mentioned it the following morning.

Told her the story of this video and how as a 10 year old in 1975 my brother and i used to have timed running races over the footbridge. Also, the pub in the background 0.55, 1.07,The Cross Keys if my memory serves me well, is where my dad used to go whilst mum, me, my brother and 3 sisters used to go to the market. Remember the broken biscuit shop just inside the entrance to the market? Shovels full of broken biscuits of every description. Good times.

Looking at the clip again it is possible that you might be right. There were the exact same steps on the NW10 side of the North Circular at one side of the bridge that crossed over the road from the Wembley / Monks Park side (the bridge and steps have since been demolished) but looking closely the tower blocks in the background don't look like those at Stonebridge (those tower blocks in Stonebridge have also since been demolished).

this was filmed at my local sports center in london. I lived in Ponders End and could walk to the Pickets Lock sports center to use the roller skating rink saturday evenings in the early 70's. The bus bit started on the walk way in Edmonton Green and then was around the industrial area near pickets lock. The area has been changed since then as a major road has bee built over the foot path that I used to walk along side the railway line and Edmonton Green has been redeveloped since the walk ways have been removed.

I'm sure if comedy from the 70s and 80s was repeated today, the public would love it. I would love to see "Love thy neighbour" back on tv. 😁😁☻☻

This footage was filmed 20 minutes from where I used to live. It was filmed at Edmonton Green bus station. The staircase was part of a bridge that went across the road. I think Michael Crawford was the only person to use it. Now when Michael was skating. That was the picketts lock Centre.also in Edmonton. The part with the bus where he says. I've got no change is picketts lock lane. The truck he goes under is a libbys truck, they used to have a factory there. They pulled down the bridge.

Great stunts by Michael, but obviously done way slower than the speeded up final version on tv, but still brilliant 👍👍😥

Frank Spencer = The Phantom.... how this can be true makes my brain hurt. That man is truly a legend.

And he deserves that praise in every sense of the word. Too many famous people are so undeserving of being classed as legends. Many of them are just so egotistical. Michael Jordan for example would rather sign his autograph on one of his playing shoes than for fans who look up to him as their sporting hero.

I remember this episode So well! I was there in the studio, with my parents and sister…. The children in this episode were my very dear friends, Lyla and Cynthia Lund… I remember laughing so much, and revealing in Micheal’s incredible ability to throw himself around, especially crashing through the window in the studio! at the baby shop.. such wonderful memories…… Rest in pease my little friends.. Miss you so very much ❤ x

Ricky Renner - bearing in mind he himself was doing all of this - there was no 'stunt double'. You have to pretty skillful on roller skates to do what he did. Especially grabbing hold of a moving bus which is going across the direction you are travelling in; not to mention crouching down to go under a lorry. It's easy to dismiss this as 'not that funny' or 'very of its time'. Yes, it was very of its time, but the stunts he did were timeless ....and yes, it is just as funny as anything Morecambe and Wise did. Imo, they were overrated. Being a southerner, I've always found The Two Ronnie's to be funnier. And they are.
