My favorite part (besides the pony stickers) is the fact that these aren't one-off custom machines "inspired by" rice tractors, these are farm machines. That sparkle pony mobile with a full custom motor and power train is an actual piece of agricultural machinery out there turning diesel into food. So cool.

Chad , rice Paddy tractors are quite common but Insanely expensive from Japan. These machines are cheaper to build new here than to buy a second hand (used) machine and import. These normally have skinny super tall tires and wheels, rubber tires are rare here and rediculous expensive . The tracks are local made and not expensive, hydraulic systems here are very cheap and there are tons of engineers to spec. Tracks are thin to minimize damage to field and maximize yeilds. About power it would be SHP , shaft horsepower, basically "@flywheel". Industrial engines are built for industry and don't have transmission so power level is SHP .

From history as I known Thai ancestors had highly skill in engineering. But for living in tropical zone , so , agriculture , food and travel must be the main work of country. Rarely see work in industrial. Recently, a group of Thai students have just got runner-up world champion in the making rescue robots competition (Japan is world champion , Germany is 3rd) It shows that Thai people have high engineering potential but rarely use it and lack of supportor.

Btw they also began to build their own military equipment like armored car Chaiseri 4x4 first win that is also being licensed produced in Malaysia, the Panus R800 APC, the AAPS which are currently being adopted by the Thai marines. If the Thai government continue to support its domestically made products i'm sure they can go even further.

@@i_nameless_i-jgsdfYou also need to consider the resources used to create it. This does not include maintenance costs. Thailand is not a superpower like America or China that has a large military budget. And Thailand is neutral like Switzerland, not conflicting with anyone.
@i_nameless_i-jgsdf
@i_nameless_i-jgsdf Ай бұрын
@@lazaruz4096 Ok, so what about it ? South Korea, despite not being a superpower, stands out as one of the largest arms exporters globally, an impressive feat considering its landmass is comparable to that of Kentucky and Indiana combined-roughly five times smaller than Thailand. It's proof that size isn't everything in today's world. Even in times of peace, resource availability isn't a limiting factor, as countries can procure what they need from global markets. Take Japan, for instance. Despite being an island nation with limited resources, Japan's self-defense forces effectively utilize domestically-produced weapons across various platforms, from tanks to aircraft and warships. While Thailand maintains its neutrality, it hasn't hindered them from developing their own military technology or seeking to export their homegrown weapons. This self-reliance is commendable and offers Thailand greater autonomy in its defense capabilities, reducing dependence on foreign imports-a strategic move that strengthens their national security

Before 1990 everything was built from parts, sourced from Japan used market, cut up and shipped to Thailand. Medium and heavy trucks were made from drivetrains bought used from Japan. Even today you can not import a bus. Axles are imported and drive line imported, then built here in Thailand.
@michaelclark3192
@michaelclark3192 2 жыл бұрын
They still make buses here in Australia this way, chassis are made in Brazil, shipped to Australia and then lengthened and then a body is made by hand on top. You can get cheap imported buses from China or other countries but they're not customised for our regulations or as good quality. Also we still make some heavy trucks here from scratch so our auto industry isn't completely dead.

most of the work like this isn't even trained engineers. it's just what they do. Like when i first went to my wifes village and saw my father in law's rice plough and had a go of that and saw some ancient hand made rifle I was blown away, Then we visited her best friend, Pook's father is a rice farmer and he made a flat bed truck from just an engine. really bad welding. odd bars and random lengths of steel. windows taken from 3 cars etc etc.. and totally road legal over there and this creation ran as good as any other truck commercially produced in the late 50's early 60's, if not BETTER.. I saw so many cool engineering on sidecars and adaptations i always ask how much and the answer most of the time is "free, no money" "he make" I will live there one day for the pure freedom to do what you like with any vehicle. most of which is illegal in UK

Asian custom machine culture is on another level. I remember stumbling on a custom bike show in Bali some years ago and seeing some superb examples of custom bikes that would never be considered for modification elsewhere. My favourite was a barely recognisable Honda C90 step through lowrider. I'm an engineer who used to run a bike shop and I was seriously impressed.
