@Me He will always lack the widespread appeal of people like those. His music is heavy and dark, and has openly Satanic themes and imagery. These kinds of things will limit who your audience can be. Most people just want to have mindless fun with music they can dance to, or want to hear love songs. And I'm not saying Danzig is super inaccessible, but he is also not all that accessible.

+Fecal Thunder That punch was 10 years ago. He was being a total dick long after that. I'm sure being a punk rocker growing up in Lodi, NJ (which people used to joke stands for Land Of Dumb Italians) he took his fair share of punches in his day. I've always thought that to be why Danzig has the stereotypical macho tough guy attitude. That was the environment he grew up in.

I think Glenn's the real deal. He's first and foremost an artist and believes that music must convey authenticity and sincerity. This puts him aeons ahead of most bands and musicians whose sole motive is attention, fame, money-and NOT artistic expression. Glenn rightly pointed out that we've been spoon-fed a steady diet of blandness and mediocrity- that we've falsely been led to believe is good music. In truth, most of what passes as "good" pop music is in fact dull, unoriginal and commonplace. Glenn gave us something much more powerful, fresh and original. No wonder he encountered so much rejection. Sadly, most folks want safe and predictable. Frank Zappa famously said "Without deviation from the norm, progress is impossible." You can't have authenticity, originality, power and integrity if you're sole intent is fame and glory and your music is an afterthought.

Malcolm Nicoll The Misfits would have been singed to label for their first LP (Static Age) had they toned it down and went with a more "studio friendly" sound. I'm glad they didn't. +Eloel To quote Glenn's fellow musician/friend Henry Rollins: “I wonder if it ever occurred to people that the reason the music of these interesting and alternative bands is being recruited [for advertisements] is because their fans are now the ones calling the shots. In other words, we have arrived. Of course the ad is trying to sell you something, and to gain your confidence by exploiting the band’s integrity for a commercial end. So what? You’re not a fucking moron, are you? You see through that, don’t you? What would you rather hear? Iggy and the Teddy Bears doing ‘I’m a Punk Rocker’ in a car ad, or enduring some generic background music? Do you have any idea what some of these bands went through to make that music? The fact that there might be some money for them all these years later is great. You think that paycheck is in anyway a slight to their integrity? Are you fucking kidding me? Pay them. Pay them double. Pay them now. It’s about fucking time!”

+Malcolm Nicoll Glenn's messages are always so weak. He is first and foremost a very shallow and self centered moron with a huge ego. Was his band original? Sort of. Was it good...? That is debatable. Is there any meaningful depth beyond a bone head trying to act "cool?" Depends who ya ask.

It's sad to see the footage of the Riot Fest Misfits set in Denver because the crowd is too worried about getting video on their phones than the experience of seeing such an Iconic band. Those people should be going nuts and tearing that place down. Sign of the times.

That shit is so sad. It shows that they are more thrilled with the idea of being able to say that they saw the misfits live than actually seeing them live. I went to see rush when I was in high school and I did that with a camera, I realized how stupid I was the second they stopped playing.

meh. if you could ignore the b.s., you could enjoy the show. it was amazing... and i still remember danzing being all like "we still have 8 minutes left". still not sure if he was happy or not happy about that,... but who gives a fuck. the music was.... it was fucking incendiary... in the best possible way (at least in my corner of the crowd).

I've never met Mr. Danzig but, from what I've read and listened to, I like him. He seems the genuine sort that tries his best and cares about people. That's the making of a pretty good person. Keep rocking, Mr. Danzig.

Glenn man, this guy pretty much shaped the life i lived in the early 90s when i first heard him with the misfits. Ive always made the argument (to this day) the Misfits are the true fathers of "punk rock". Long live Glenn!

Idk why this video pops up on my youtube constantly, but every time it does, all i can think of is my old buddy Jimbo, and how, the very day this video came out on KZfaq, i had watched it right away, and then right after i went out to eat with Jimbo in the afternoon at some Chinese restauraunt, where we got into a huuuuge convo about Danzig and Misfits due to the video. Sadly he passed on one year or so afterwards. I miss digging Misfits with Jimbo

I think Glen Danzig has been through a great deal and seen it all over the years. He’s matured into a much calmer, patient and respectful person with age, much like others in his field who’ve been lucky enough to survive. I realize after all these years that his east coast attitude and front man persona were much of the reason for the reputation that followed him around for so long. Much love to him and his art 🤟❤️
