Because Raye is so outspoken , telling truth, is why she wasn't nominated for the Grammys. They didn't want her up there telling this truth.
@jojociara52012 ай бұрын
Maybe, but the Grammys are a disgrace as of late, lacking integrity, it has become a popularity contest, and imagine giving an award to an incredibly talented woman like RAYE who turned the industry upside down, and justice was served
@user-pr2ff7rs9c2 ай бұрын
@@jojociara5201 and Raye is an independent artist now who broke out of her unfair record industry contract, the Grammys are an industry insider group always patting each other on the back and they don't like when artists go independent, the Grammys are a bust, Brit awards got it so right.

Artist like these come one in a million. The majority of them write music to make money - very few like Raye write music because they truly love to share their story. Artist like these don’t need awards - they need us to continue supporting them and going out to their concerts and buying their music. This is amazing Raye and I applaud your bravery!!!
@angeljams64072 ай бұрын
she's so right omg.This explains why the narrative of the music industry is so heavily pushing artists who sing about all the things they have because they have money whereas most the world who live without these wealth privileges can't relate, they're side is not seen and heard so we're only listening to one experience and that's the experience of being rich and having nice things which is so so wrong.

Good conversation, but she left out another huge part of this, probably intentionally: artists who don't write their songs bullying the songwriters into giving them a writing credit in exchange for recording their song and putting it on the record and/or releasing it as a single.

@@ArKaneAcrumProductions Some singers demand a writing credit, even when they don’t contribute, in exchange for putting that song on their album. If the songwriter does not agree, it can get really ugly. Publishing for lyrics brings the big money. Plus, certain singers want to be considered an artist and/or musician so desperately, they do whatever is necessary to be able to call themselves a “singer-songwriter”. That includes some very disturbing tactics to take advantage of those songwriters who usually do not have any leverage to “negotiate”.

When Ice Cube, Lisa Lopes, etcetera went up to the labels' offices w/ bats & gats, do y'all think they were fighting for some doggon "creative control" over they music or were they tryna see what the fuck was up w/ they paycheck? Was Prince Rogers Nelson writing "sLaVe" on his face to be cute and make a statement or was he tryna see what the fuck was up w/ his paycheck? All that art sh¡t is cute, but when it get down to the wire and you ain't got shit to show for...I mean... Nah you done made all this music, but yo' ass is in the po' house because you _cain't_ pay yo' bills.
