Recorded: Late 1980s
Original Recorder: Toshiba V8700 Beta VCR Copied From VHS Tape
Recovered With: (very tired) Sony SL-HF950ES Super Betamax VCR
Rolls-Royce film showing a couple travelling in England and France in a Camargue. It has Rolls-Royce number plates, so may be a prototype. There is no commentary in this film, and it's probably from early to mid 1970s.
(Australian Translation - Pair of tossers prancing around Pommy Land and France in a Rolls barge with weird music.)
My apologies for the sound and picture quality problems with this video. These were copied a long time ago and the tapes have sat unused.
If there are any copyright problems with this film, please let me know and I'll remove it.

Wouldn't it e fantastic to find the original camera negative and completely remaster this. It looks like a really high quality production behind the vhs/betamax fuzz

I agree with you. The VHS tapes I copied these from were already at least second generation. For some reason after uploading, KZfaq darkened the videos as the originals aren't this dark.

@@deltic i only can tell you that the jerky image and the artifake which are on the bottom of the picture to see from a worn band train and worn video head and dirty video cassette. There are cleaning agents for this. The video head must be replaced by a new one. Uploading to Odysee would be a possibility, especially since they are not interested in the video qualities. and also Odysee would then have more high quality than just over Politics or archeology.

It was styled after a Fiat coupe' that Paolo Martin admired. I've seen the Fiat, and it's a plausible story. The rear of the Camargue looks unfinished, like a base model 1970 Ford Maverick.

It does. The 1977 Chevrolet was a particularly handsome car and if anything, was better looking than the Carmargue.

@@deltic Yeah, those old US cars look so poised, at least for me. The Italian influence on the design of the Camargue may make it look a little odd. I'm not such a big fan of the Italian car design.

Beautiful car, but too big - also, notice the lack of attention to detail when he opens the door for her, only for her to struggle to reach back for the seat belt - a merc would have the belt electronically delivered to her easy reach - what a sad swan-song for the UK car industry - when 'we' thought we were still great Britain.

It's no linger than a Silver Shadow and no wider than many modern cars. As for the seat belt, what a stupid comment, name a Mercedes from that period that has seat belt presenters.
