UltraFan is our next generation of engine architecture.
UltraFan delivers a 10% efficiency improvement over our Trent XWB, which is already the world’s most efficient large aero engine in service.
In total that’s a 25% efficiency gain since the launch of the first Trent engine.

Bruh, Rolls Royce is really going full on crazy with its new 'ultrafan' which would be able to outrival the GE9X in certain aspects.

RR is full on with new engine development but haven't been able to fix issues with the Trent 1000 for over five years now..how many 787s remain grounded, even with the Covid window it didn't work. How many airlines dumped the Trent 1000 in further 787 orders and how many are re engining their existing fleet. Just like Boeing , RR is at a bottom note with the aviation industry now unfortunately. The Trent 700, the RB211 524s, the Trent XWBs and almost all RR products are so dependable. Many came with teething problems but RR recovered and fixed them. Sadly though, the Trent 1000 has really disappointed so many existing customers

Yeah, it's odd that the 1000 has turned-out to be such a dog of a thing, isn't it? Airlines love the Trent XWB, yet if you asked operators what they think of the 1000; Air NZ, for instance; they'd probably tell you they greatly regret not going with the GEnx in the first place.

@@PeterH-be1xe yes its quite unbelievable, not only of so many multiple issues, but their inability to find a solution. I work for an airline operating these and we've had to cut down operations since 2019. Multiple aircraft remain grounded and those that fly have to be given long ground times frequently for borescope inspection. Then engines have to be swapped between aircraft to gain time for one aircraft at least. Even now there's no concrete timeline from RR. Previous RR engines, the 524s, the Trents including XWB have been flawless

I just hate it when the old and insane stupid imperial system is used instead of the metric system used by the USA and Liberia _only!_ Including some English people who aren't able to adapt. 140 inches = 358.4 centimeters which is beyond insanity.

I'm in full agreement of the Ultrafan development. Global warming is increasing constantly, so replacing many of the current turbofan engines with those that rely less on fuel and more on air like the Ultrafan, is crucial for human survival.

@@sebastiannielson1952 Thank you very much sebastian! The answer is indeed yes. It will make a good amount of difference, since reducing our carbon footprint is a collective effort, e.g. we're also seeing more electric bus fleets and more renewable powerplants. Likely a neo 380. Boeing will not build a two engine 747. The new 777X-10 replaces the 747-400 directly and if stretched more will hold as many passengers as the 747-800.

Oh well, talk more about 2030, a time R&R has ceased building large aero engine should the moron in the CEO's seat not finally comprehend, that customers buying his scrap are needed to survive. F.cking up A350 deals is certainly the best strategy to get out of the large aeroengine business, especially when the Trent XWB remain the only large engines that still are selling well!

The problem with modern jet engines for passenger aircraft is that they are too complicated. That's why engine failures happen all the time. For example, the UltraFan engine has 25.000 parts. In contrast, the 1903 Wright Engine had 200 parts.
