As a guitar player myself, I appreciate that he doesn't eq out all the sounds that a guitar makes when you play it, like the string squeaks and the sound of the nails hitting the strings. To me, those noises are part of the sound of a guitar, and add to the music. Beyond that is just his talent, which shines through whatever he does.

I agree! Thanks for pointing this out! I play guitar too. Everyone is always trying to erase the sounds strings make with crazy heavy editing and/or coated strings. Those squeaks, squeals, bangs, and other noise are part of what makes this instrument more human and helps to convey the player’s emotions. They add feeling and character. A guitar generally sounds too sterile when it’s hyper clean - that approach only works for very few artists and genres. Most of the time, it just sounds over-processed. Romain doesn’t over bake his tracks and playing, nor is it underbaked. In his solo stuff, the Big Push and other collabs, he adds exactly what’s needed in the guitar parts, which often doesn’t take much to be beautiful and well-composed . . . but sometimes he lets loose when he’s doing street performances and live shows, and that’s where he shows his fun side! 😉☺️👍🏻 Actually, I’d love to see Romain try a purely acoustic album. I bet it would be gorgeous and full of life. Acoustic guitars are all so unique and beautiful. Imagine an album with all types of stringed instruments like acoustic guitars (ie: different shapes/sizes, steel string vs. nylon, different wood, etc.) ukuleles, basses, mandolins, banjos, etc. and other types of acoustic instruments and percussions. I bet he could do something magical with that sort of acoustic musical palette! Would be a cool approach.

Beautiful and profound lyrics once again from Romain: "could it be winning Learning how to lose" Is Romain speaking about the loss of our childhood dreams here? Perhaps he is. "So close from breaking then I found a place That I finally believe in" But maybe he's speaking about creating our own definition of "winning", and finding peace and contentment for ourselves. Thanks a lot! This one was tricky to produce and I spent a lot of time on the arrangement. I was in between two places at the time and I recorded all of the instruments (guitar, vocals, clarinet, saxophone, cello, violin) in the hallway of my flat between a shoe rack and a coat hanger eheh ❤️
