It was so great to see some real emotion from one of them about their loss. I get that they are in a tricky situation with this deal. But it seemed to me like Kendall after losing it the first night, just was loving every aspect of this transition. And Shiv shed her last tear on that boat.

I love Kendall and Roman together. I think it's the closest thing to a real bond in the show. I love it when Kendall just knows when Roman is about to lose it and tries to stop him and when he can't do it then tries to comfort him and says his move might work when he knows it can't. I think we can understand the bond by these little things like Kendall defending Rome from Logan in season 2 and i notice in the Logan's death episode Kendall is looking at Roman a lot and checks if he is ok i can't help it i just love them. Go the CE-Bros

It worked wonders for the board. As far as they're concerned the brothers hit a home run. Matsson paid way more than he would have, even for the complete package, if he where negotiating with Logan whom he knew wanted to sell in good faith. The moment he knew they didn't want to sell, he had to offer a way bigger amount to make his offer impossible to refuse.

Poor Roman. Out of all the kids, he's grieving the most. He could never completely cut his father off. Even after the way things ended last season, he still went back to him. He doesn't know how to function without Logan around.

Logan definitely wouldn’t be proud. Roman let his emotions and personal issues get in the way of business, something Logan would be ashamed of. Now Matsson knows how emotionally invested Ken and Rom are in the company and will use that to his advantage. He made a huge offer for the company that all the old execs love, and if Ken and Rom kill the deal, they’ll have a mutiny.

Seems like the people in the comments don’t get dynamics among personality types. I agree 100%, Mattson is the same kind of bully-figure that Logan was. Except Roman can actually fight and yell back at Matsson. He never would have allowed himself to speak like that to Logan.

@@unadanni the way he so clearly wasn't distraught over JUST the business deal, his dad barely died and Mattson's was already trying to chew the siblings down to their bones, he was buying not only his dad's company but also the news outlet his father was extremely attached to, and Roman has been volatile since the beginning of the show. He doesn't even want to sell the company: if his father had been alive at that point he probably would have. And, guess what: the death of a parent can make you emotionally unstable in any situation at any age

What killed Logan was the fact that he didn't wear flight socks to impress his girlfriend and then had a pulmonary embolism. If you notice, Karl and Frank made sure they wore compression socks before jet-setting to Norway after Logan's death.

In the end, i think Matsson is the one who made Logan the happiest, at least the last months before his passing. Both Logan and Matsson care little about enjoying money, what really keeps them alive is all those bussiness strategies, flirting and negotiations between two equally manipulative giants, just like they showed during their conversations in Matsson's villa in Italy. Thinking about the next move is what Logan really loved, and Matsson kept his rhythm just fine, only Logan was eventually defeated by his age.

As a big fan of the show and an even bigger fan of Roman, I had been hoping for a scene like this. If anywhere, then where better to snap than in front of Matsson on a mountain top? I loved it! And should anyone from HBO or the Succession team read this, pretty pretty please release sometime after May 28 the scenes that didn't make the final cut, such as the full discussion between Stewy and Ken, Mencken paying his respects, the confrontation with Connor and any other bit available. I can't possibly be alone in wanting this?

First I thought that Mattson respected Roman for this 'negotiation', but he just noticed that they wanted to tank the deal. And because he doesn't want them to get what they tried, he made an offer so high, that they didn't knew how to justify declining the new offer in front of the board. More and more as I watch this show Kieran keeps reminding me of Robert Downey Jr. He’s such a dynamic actor, always moving around, great at improv and can turn the humor off for dramatic scenes so well while keeping the quick witted aspect of his character right at the front. Really good.

Feel like this episode perfectly portrayed why Logan didn't want to give the company to any of his children. Roman being immature and can't physically stop himself from saying something dumb. Kendal trying to kill the deal just so he can continue to be CEO. Shyv being completely selfish and looking out only for herself.

There’s a difference between keeping your company from falling and honoring your father’s legacy while maintaining self respect. Deals come and go. Waystar can always find a different solution and the company isn’t broke, like they said they are rich. Doing business with Mattson would mean surrendering and becoming his to control.

Sober Kendall I think was the actual adult in all of this. We saw how Roman was in this moment as well at Logan’s funeral. But it doesn’t change the outcome. And when Roman had to take the picture with mattison at the end when he didn’t want to had me feeling bad cause he meant everything he said here and probably used this moment exclusively as to why he would see Kendall succeed instead of mattinson ever having control. It’s all chaos but Roman was missed his dad and it showed.
